Any pc folks out there that can help ?

Running Windows 7. Hotmail Live. When I switch on my pc (desktop) it starts up, loads Skype, AVG etc, etc and Messenger.

I get the wee blue and green man from Messenger and it comes up and says I have several new emails, all good.

Recieved an email from MSN today announcing they are retiring Messenger and joining up with Skype and to merge them together.

I have never actually used Messenger for years. Talk to my daughter in China every week with Skype tho !

So, clicked on the link, it installed a new version of Skype, un-installed Messenger and all seemed ok.

When I now switch on my pc, it doesnt tell me if I have any emails ??

Sent an email from the wifes laptop, it came throo straight away, but no notification sound or pop-up ??

Long story short, is there any way I can get a notification icon in the bottom of the task bar, next to my AVG, sound/speaker icons etc, that will let me know

when an email comes through and will automatically check for mail when the pc comes on.

When I load up my home page, msn.co.uk I can log into my Hotmail account from there but its a PITA.

All help appreciated,

Alan..............

Could you use outlook to get your emails? I use that & get a pop up notification, a wee envelope on the task bar & a sound
