Turbo Timer Problem

Hi guys,

Right then my latest problem after the flood is that my turbo timer has died! No biggie some might say but the engine won't turn off straight away, it runs for about 30 seconds and switches off, like if the timer was working.

The thing is the timer reads 0 on the display and no matter how many times you push the buttons the time don't change.

Where abouts do these things wire in as my loom dissapeared under the dash and I don't know where it goes haha.

Cheers, Rob

LOL, might just need unplugging taking up stairs, drying out properly and plugging back in.

Ive had some odd behavior from turbo timers before in the past, from not switching the engine off, to having a blank display and turning the engine off after a short space of time. instead of the 60 seconds i set it too.

You should be able to just cut the loom and remove the timer, cover the ends of the wires with insulating tape as a quick fix. Once it's a bit drier out there you can unsolder the wires to remove properly. iirc the timer doesn't break any connections with the ign. loom.

or as vods says, unplug it if you can. My old one didn't have a pluggable loom, but then it wasn't an HKS one.

Yeah don't want to cut wires mate, got enough of that on this car already and I want to keep the timer. I'll have a dig around under the dash and dry it out.

Fair do's mate, you might be able to unplug it since it's a quality one. Car should run as normal with it unplugged.

if its been fitted correctly all the HKS and blitz turbo times have a Small Patch Lead for the loom

will be just simple unplugging each end and then rejoining the main loom together
