Thought I'd best check my oil and water went to open bonnet and being a stupid ford they open with the key now and the key turns but doesn't click and release the bonnet! Any ideas, dontt want to take it to fords as they apparently they charge over £200 to sort it!! Ouchy ouch!!

 

Any help will be gratefully appreciated :)

pull the bonnet up and down when turning the key ..

 

assuming this is a Focus or mondeo u can butcher the grill and get a new one

I've tried pulling it up and down, bashing it (without denting it) think I may have to gett someone who has a clue what they're doing or I might break something I shouldn't, thanks anyway :)

Turn it right to unlock then left to release iirc

Silly question Nicci, have you had the bonnet up before?

I had a problem on a focus once, sure the key part had like a cable with a cross shaped bit on the end that had worn,

Im sure i broke the grill and customer got a new one.

 

Seems it's quite common for them to fail, stupid really should have a cable for emergency.

Terry you are correct m8 its quit common for this to happen on focus/mondeo's and the only way is to brake the front grill and unlatch it

Yes I've had the bonnet up before and it was a bugger to open then but managed it eventually, will give it a squirt of WD40 and see if that makes a difference if not will seek heelp from someone that knows what they're doing! I can break the grill but still wouldn't have a clue how to open it lol

Well the car is from essex so explains a lot lol say hi to splash and the big show if you see him :).

Nope! It'll have to wait until after xmas and I'll just have to hope that nothing goes wrong in the meantime that requires the bonnet open, just gives me an excuse not to drive and drink more lol
