It's a bit sucky mate, but Fedex helped you out by paying the duties on your order so that it doesn't get held up in customs. It would probably still be in an HMRC warehouse if they hadn't.

I guess you are correct, did get a speedy delivery:thumbup1:, but why cant this be calculated into the order amount? not just z1 but any company who imports goods to the uk?

Very difficult to gauge how much we have to pay for goods we buy from the states, when they do it this way around.

Did mention this will happen when I posted in my other thread!

Its actually very straightforward.

You take the TOTAL in dollars that you paid to the company in the US. Ie goods +shipping.

You then convert that total in to pounds at the current rate.

Then add 20% vat.

Then add Fedex handling charge.

That will give you the total cost of the items to your door.

From that total you can then apportion a cost to each item.

In my case I then add my mark up/profit to give me a selling price.

Fedex are great to deal with.

Fast efficient service that you can track/follow.

accurate estimate of delivery day.

No hold up in Customs on routine stuff.

If you ring up the day after your parcel is delivered you can find out exactly the amount on their invoice.

All couriers charge a handling fee. Varies between companies . parcel Farce is £8.50 I think. Fedex is around a tenner

It will be in everyones "terms and Conditions" and probably on the website.

Yes it is a bummer but I don't think all the participants aren't that surprised and was factored in, I have forwarded and rightly so some funds to Dave of course - well it is Xmas .

What does rake is the fact that the hatch struts that I got are now 13USD cheaper in their Xmas sale :headvswal.
