Following on from my rant the other day about selling nurburgrings on ebay and being messed about, last night I sold my Merc S430, had 112 watchers and a few bidders, the winner bid a couple of times yesterday just before auction, I emailed them to congratulate them and ask when they would be picking the car up and reminding them of the request for £200 deposit within 24 hours and $received no reply....

Just logged in this morning to get an email from them saying they bought it as a birthday present for their husband but last night found out its a diesel he is after and apologises and said she wished she'd asked before she bid.

Fuming this morning. So much for clearing space and getting pennies in for xmas.

How do the ebay fees work? That's twice this week that's happened and its the first I've experienced it, will they still charge me but give me credit on my account? Or will they not charge me at all if the transactions are cancelled?

The ONLY way to do it so you do not incur ebay fee's on a failed transaction.

1st, do not cancel the transaction, this not only lets the other party leave feed back (including bad feed back) but if they decide not to cancel as well, it will take long and you will incur charges still.

2nd, send an invoice for the price specified. and wait 4 days.

3rd, after the 4th day, open a no payment dispute.

4th, as they have no intention of paying, wait a further 4 days and then close the dispute saying you did not receive payment, and get a refund on any listing fee's that apply to that sale.

5th, relist item and good luck with sale.

6th, subscribe here and also sell on the forum with out the ebay hassle.

Seriously, that is the only and correct way of doing it. unless you want to faff about taking them to a small claims court, as it is a binding sale.

Pretty bloody annoying when buyers do that, i always open a non payment case now, it not only protects my 100% score, but also i do not incur ebay fee's, and most importantly it puts a non payment strike next to their name, if they get too many, there account is closed. which is more hassle for them, really there should be a system in place for people who fail to pay, that lets sellers know if the last item they bidded on and won, they didn't pay, im sure this would cut down on the amount of idiots out there, as you could see who has bidded on your item and not paid before.

You can also limit those who bid on your item, by stopping those with non payment strikes against there name from bidding on your items.

*****cks, I sent a cancellation request for the alloys the other day. He hasn't accepted yet despite emailing to say he would, just draggin his feet now to be an ass.

What will happen with that one when he does accept the cancellation as far as my fees are concerned?

Just had a long drawn out conversation with adviser on the live chat system, had a go at not being able to leave negative feedback and they said buyer activity dropped when they had a system in place to allow two way feedback. i said surely that means it was working then if the assholes went window shopping elsewhere?! So ebay have proposed to refund me all fees as a one off.

The day is looking up slightly at least, gave the buyer a hard time and they've sent me £50 for my inconvenience

That's good news mate - and Ebay has agreed no fees either. Best result all round there I'd say; I still hate the place for selling though....
