Doesnt ebay piss you of?

It does me, just sold a phone on there with a broken screen for £31, guy emails me 1 minute later "dont want it anymore couldnt cancel bid" no apologies or anything. Pisses me right of surely if youve bid on it, youve bought it, you pay for it and its your problem. I admit there can be a time where both the bidder and seller can come to an agreement to cancel, I cant even leave him bad feedback. I know his address, might send him a dog shit in the post.

I had this recently with a set of alloys I sold, the buyer was aware it needed a new valve replacing and kept the alloys for a month. In that time he caused a lot of damage trying to repair the wheel instead of taking it to the garage. So what happens he files a complaint after a month of ownership and gets his money back.

Ebay really pisses me off for sellers as there is no protection whatsoever, only for buyers.

just had the same mate, stuck something on for spares / repairs as it still might be of use to someone, had 2 bidders, first one asked me to cancel their bid saying it wasnt the item it was??? thought fair enough, so canceled his bid, messaged the second bidder to make him aware that his bid was now the highest again out of courtesy, auction ended, get this message.

"Dear,

hey i didnt make this bid....... this is my paypal i cant afford or need this item"

Bearing in mind there was 6 bids off this guy, 3 of which where automatic the other 3, normal bids.

Anyway, its now going to take 8 more frigging days, before i can list the item again, as im having to go down the non payer route, other wise he is going to get away with it, and also be able to leave me bad feed back, and as im 100% positive, there is no way im going to give the scrotum the chance too.

The worst thing? this is only the 3rd item ive tried to sell on ebay, the first got sent back to me after 3 weeks, saying the item was now broken, so had to give full refund and get back a broken item that i sold working fine, the 2nd item i sold, but the buyer was just a time waster, no contact, no payment, another 8 days waisted, as ebay doesnt let you open a non paying case until 4 days have past, and then 4 more days, of waiting for ebay to agree that they are not going to pay, and now this.

So far, not the best selling experiance on there.

90% of ebay are timewasting tossers. I've sold my Ford Explorer twice on ebay now and both never turned up to even look at the car, let alone colect it! Plus I won a Zed on there earlier on in the month only for the seller to decide that he wasn't going to sell for that amount as it was 'too low'. He is lucky he is a member on here otherwise I would have left him stinking feedback and I would have been well within my right to do so!

Yeah drives you mad doesnt it. I think there should be protection out there for rogue sellers but also for the genuine ones and rogue buyers.

yeah pain in the arse mate.

Ive got a samsung galaxy S2 thats waiting for a new LCD lol, seems to be a recurrent thing with them.

Yeah. I sold some girls ski jackets last year. The buyer never contacted me and by the time I sorted it out it was too late to leave negative feedback and ski season had finished, so they have sat in the wardrobe ever since. I suppose it's time to go through the trauma of trying to sell them again!!

from experience ebay is 100% protctive of buyers and sellers can go and fook themselves . you cant even leave neutral feedback never mind negative feedback for a buyer .

i battled with ebay for a month or so over a recent issue with a bad buyer but in the end just had to put it down to a bad experience .

as for the dog turd in the post , im all for it .

I'd recommend a padded, well-sealed bag and post it from a different area.... :ninja:

ebay used to be fantastic and it still is if you're a buyer. Sellers on the other hand are shafted left right and centre. It's got far to big and full of shite time wasters...

Just had a similar prob, sold my front bumper on there, guy emails saying he wants it but is in Germany and can I post it, I say no chance but sort your own courier at your own cost ( said it will be high) anyway he won and then says its too much for him to sort courier so wants me to do it, stuck to my guns and said no but still have the bumper taking up valuable space and he is not replying, but can't sell it again now in case he does get in touch, boned!!

open a non payment case with ebay, you can only do so after 4 days, then wait 4 days, if he still hasnt paid then you can close the case after 4 days, and relist it, that way he gets a strike against his name as a non payer, he cant give negative feed back (although that works both ways) and you dont have to worry about his suddenly saying "but i brought that"

Sucks you have to wait so frigging long, but thats the only way to do it, like im having to at the moment, im on day 3, only have to wait till tomorrow so i can open a non payment case.

shame this isnt the US, where a non payer can be taken to court, as it is a binding contract. would soon sort out this bid and not pay malarkey if buyers where faced with court action.

WOuld do that but he has paid for the bumper, but as he ain't replying im half expecting eBay to get in touch with me say he hasn't recieved it, so having to leave his payment in PayPal, but both need the space the bumper is taking up and could use the money....ebay sucks my Gooch! Raaahhhh!!!

I sold a pair of gates 2 weeks ago now, the guy only lives 40 minutes from me and he hasnt been arsed to come and get them. He has paid for them which is fair enough, its still annoying though!

I once sold some brakes to a chap in greece, oh good god I was ready to sign my self into the looney bin by the end of that fiasco. First he was gonna send a courier, then his mate with a wagon then he didnt want them, then he did then he just wanted the caliper. I think I boxed the dam things up 3 times.

No response from a second chance offer on the galaxy either, it says on the listed the screen is broken it doesnt work and somone just emailed me asking if the screen comes on. If people would just read the 4 lines of text in the listing they would be totally fine.

Turns out the BMW diagnostics might not be broken, it could be user failure.... turns out it has to be plugged into the car for the laptop to install the drivers properly which does sort of make sence as the car powers the diagnostic device through the OBD port. So I'll try it later on if I can find the port!

i can answer the samsung question, if my iphone suffers a cracked LCD, it can turn on, and light up, but the damaged area obviously doesnt work, with my samsung galaxy S2, the LCD is cracked but doesnt power on, just saying it has a cracked screen doesnt necessarily mean the LCD wont power on even though the phone its self is on.

may just be a samsung thing, i know the S2's screen cant be replaced on its own, you have to get the digitizer as well, as you cant separate the two with any degree of success.

Id say thats a genuine question, but as you are pee'ved with ebay lol its effecting your judgement as to if its a ligit question or not :D

Point being it says in the listed the screen does not turn on at all, but the lights at the bottom of the phone do and the startup sound "plays".

If people would read what I had written ;)

see :p

lol, well that was before id read the listing, bit like the guy who messaged me to say that he would like his bid removed because the graphics card i was selling, wasnt a graphics card???

i mean what the feck, couldnt even tell by the pictures as to what it was?

Yours is doing what mine is doing, cracked screen, turns on but no back light on the LCD and no image on screen, just a blank screen, might want to add that you can get it repaired by Geek Squad at carphone warehouse, regardless if its bought there or not. ps you fail to mention if its unlocked / barred, any other faults ect. also what network its on (i know it says simlocked to 3 in the main info part, but people often skip that bit)

Find out how much for the repair, compare that to what they sell for fully working, might be better to get it fixed then sell it rather than sell it at reduced cost because it needs a new screen, they are relatively easy to repair, but its the cost of parts thats the killer.

Take for instance.

Iphone 3gs

New digitizer = £5, easy to fit.

New LCD = £10, also easy to fit and can fit at the same time as doing the digitizer.

Samsung galaxy S2.

Can not buy digitizer / LCD separate, you have to get them both together.

price = between £67 and £140 depending if you want just the LCD and digitizer or the assembly with it as well.

id compare the prices, of a fully working one, with the cost of the part, might still be able to turn a profit.

cost of a faulty Samsung galaxy S2, is between £50 and £150 depending on whats wrong with it, selling a fully working one, is around £300.

Problem with buying a phone from Ebay, is there is a lot of stories of people buying the phone with "no signal" and it turns out to be barred, or buying the phone working, and then it ending up being barred at a later date, with a screen not working, people cant tell if its got connection issues with the network which is a major plus point if its working and can be shown working.

Or just order a shed load of takeaway deliveries to his house...

That'd only work if the owner of the takeaway place is the same guy that has a tendency to bid on broken phones and then opt out of the deal or advertises and sells his zed only to then say that it's worth more....otherwise it's the poor takeaway owner who's out of pocket and not the chump

Exactly! I could post him 1 letter a day from a keyboard spelling out "You are a Twa..." you get the idea. However the cost and effort to do that is beyond my "botheredness" oh to be retired and have loads of time on my hands!

Tried selling my EVO on eBay, got pissed off with all the stupid questions about things, seeing as the answers were always "it's in the description" !

Got so bad that I removed it, done my head in !!!
