Whats the procedure for draining, flushing and refilling the radiator?

Sorry Bilks me old mate - didn't see your last post anyway in the swaith of rubbish gags and off topic garbage (oooh handbags )

 

Draing the Rad is as simple as ought ... Not

 

Simply Take of the pressure Cap, , Get the Car jacked up , Undo the Drain Pentcock which is a little rubber wing nut lookin thing on the Drivers most side of the underneath of the Radiator - Make sure you have something underneath to catch the fluid. Go and read War and Peace ... twice. then hopefully you will have drained most of the coolant. I Undo the bottom drain hose to get what is left out - it generally comes out in a fair size gush from there.

 

you may also want to undo the Overflow and drain that out too - look at the water line coming from underneath the filler top.

 

If you need to totally flush the system because of contamination (i.e all the water ways around the block Etc) you will be best of taking it to a Dealer as you will need to attempt to pressurize the system with a break in it to bleed the water off.

 

Refilling is just Do up the Drain cock and reconnect and pipes that have gone a stray.

 

Mix up the Coolant - Dont forget the anti freeze - its gonna be a cold winter

 

Fill up thru the filla cap untill you can put no more in there( excess will drain into the overflow resevoir) then start the engine and let some pump thru the system - fill up more as you need - once finished check the overflow tank level and go for a little drive - Keep a VERY carefull eye on the Coolant Temp for the first few miles _ DO NOT let the car overheat - If it gets too hight then you haven't put enuff in - go back and put some more in thru the Filla cap.
