My Z smoking too ........... :(

Like Gio my Z is smoking too.

I had some fun with my car today doing a few full acceleration pull offs from standing start but most of the 30 min drive was driving at 50-60.

Get to the car park and had to wait for a for 20mins for a place and way when I find one, I reverse into the space only to be faced with smoke coming from the exhaust and quite a bit, and it smelled of oil.

However the car had not beed driven for over a day and nothing occured when I started it in the morning. The car lay was stopped in the carpark for 2½ hours before starting again, and nothing was visible when I started it then and all the way home no smoke appeared.

Is this my turbo seals?

The car was on a slight hill leaning back when I was waiting to get in the carpark. Could that have had anything to do with it?

Very Worried. frown.gif

P.S. I also have an oil leak which is getting on my clutch if that could cause anything. Thats being sorted soon.

P.P.S. The smoke was black an blue. frown.gif

Stu,

I've had similar problems whilst bedding in my new 'total seal' piston rings.

Problem is this: If you're getting oil in the combustion chamber, then it messes with the mixture - so the car over compensates with more fuel - and my exhausts have been *really* black because of it.

Only cure if to stop the leak, which may mean new seals being fitted to the turbos. :S

Si.

Yup sounds like turbos.

One thing id love to see, is can anyone actually point out the "famous turbo seal?" in a diagram, mabey a good thing so people can identify the problem and at least understand what is causing it.

because i dont understand what the seal is? i mean you have gasketts ect?

It certainly won't show up in that picture - you'd need an exploded view of a turbo assembly.
