Cam\Timeing belt!!!!!

Hi there i need to do a time belt on my 300 zx turbo. It's a jap import and I thought i better be safe than sorry as i have no service history.

Any way i can source a belt easy enouh but have been advised by my machanic that i should also replace the pulleys and belts etc. He tells me these normally come in kits. E.G. When you change cam belt you might as well do these as well. Can any one help I can't source them any where. Has any one ever done a cam belt?

Oh and IIRC people recommend to change the water pump at the same time. If you're changing the timing belt, the water pump is down there anyway and you've already done most of the stripping down to get to it.

Me, I got the belt changed on the 25th of August and then on the 29th, my water pump expired all over the pub car park!

Thanks for this do I need the whole kit priced at $346.35. Or can i pick and chose bits. As this gets a bit dam pricey once I add the water pump?

I presume thats the 60K service kit (can't be arsed looking at the link!)

How many miles has your Z done?

Water pump etc needs doing at 60K so may as well get it all if you are near that mileage.

That price is cheap by the way!

Ask Nissan UK for a price to do it - wouldn't suprise me if it was over a grand!

Well get a price in the UK then you'll know what's pricey ! smile.gif Anyway, you're much better off doing the whole lot at once - you don't want to take it apart to do a couple more bits in a months time.

Hok gents that's fair enough!!!

Mine has done 80,000 Ks, 50,000 miles. Should I worry about the cam belt. Ok I have 10,000 miles to spare but arn't you surposed to change it every four years?
