2002 BMW E39 M5

Far from the best pictures but all I could do in a garage in the rain and dark!

really m8 your going from a zed to that...no offence but looks horrible compared to your zed

id imagine your not going to keep it the way it is so think your gonaa buy that then spend a cuple grand getting it to where you want it or you could just spend that money on your zed n make it a mechanicly sound car..but if its cheaper to run n that then good luck to you..just my 2cents

Well it might be a BMW and it is probably pretty powerful and quick but its a four door Eurobox at the end of the day and as such its deadly dull and common. IMO of course

Soz

M5's are awesome in their own right and not even remotely comparible to anything Jap. We should embrace the new addition and appreciate it for what it is, even if you wouldn't own one yourself.

Nice car, fair play...

Very nice M5:thumbup1: awesome car to drive but it does not stand out like a zed would mate.

Thanks mate! Not standing out these days would probably be considered a good thing. Speed officer? Couldnt possibly be me...!

Are you Joking? Its perfect! Absolutly as BMW intended and fabulous in every way! I have to apologise for the pictures! The only money i'll be spending is replacing anything thats not perfect anymore!

You know what it is right?

My zed is mechanically sound! Just time for a change, you should get your hands in your pockets and come and buy it!

Be right up your street pete. 400bhp, NA 4.9l V8 revving to 7000rpm. Stunning piece of engineering! :)

Cheers mate, yeah its totally different to the Jap way of doing things. I'll no doubt be back in somethnig jap in a few years, I swing from one to the other, Civic, E36 323i, LWB 300zx TT, E36 M3 Evo, SWB 300zx TT, E39 M5.. can you see the pattern!

I nearly went for one of these with my insurance money but instead used a chunk of it elsewhere! I would have been very happy with one. They are really cheap to insure too. I think I got a quote for £600 on a normal policy wheras an R33 was over £2000

Plus they look and sound the *****cks and are still modern inside

Dont let us Jap car enthusiast's put you of mate I have a BMW as a daily driver and they are great cars. I think you will need to keep the zed for the Summer.

I've wanted one of these for years. Took this for a test drive a month ago to see what I thought and wow I was impressed! Plus you can get an epic supercharger kit from the states for them....! :D

Yeah my insurance quote was only £700 or so FC, thats me at 25. They do sound amazing and a lovely interior. I've had a softspot for E39's for years, even mums dog of a 523i is still a great car!

I was looking at these, it was a toss up between one of those or an rs6 I went for the 6 simply because of more room and the Quattro but I drove the m5 and it felt great really responsive, don't get me wrong I love my jap metal but it is nice to have 4 doors, a big boot and all the power of a zed

Good choice, you will enjoy it, get yourself on m5board if not already its a great source of info.

That's not a bad insurance quote either mines just under £500 this year but I'm an old git.

RS6 a lovely car but a bit out of my league tbh! They start at what I've paid for this and ive bought a nice M5 for the money. I've a friend who wants an RS6 so hopefully he'll get one and I can have a go. I have to say I wanted to stick with a manual as well. I know full well that this will probably be my last manual fast car as everything is of the two peddel variety these days!

Sweet, did it come with the dirty exhaust?

No sadly not she is totally standard but I actually rather like that about it, the same with all M cars they just dont wear modifications well. I MIGHT be tempted to do a muffler delete on it but id be keeping the standard exhaust to put back on at time of sale!

I have registered, if its the one I'm thinking of but it seems to be mainly american and completly impossible to find things on! Yeah I was suprised, thats actually registered at my house as well rather than my parents which the zed still is! I'm really excited, silly really but notbeen this excited about anything since I was 7 or 8 and waiting for a Britains farm toy (remember those?) cattle wagon to come!

Awesome! I owned M5 (e39) and E60 M5. Maybe it doesnt look as flash as Zeds but believe me - it can go like crazy. Very comfortable, much lower maintenance than zeds.

Anyway - enough of advertising, great ride buddy!

* i am not paid by BMW or associated with BMW company :)

Great choice. If I had the money and wanted one car to replace my Daily driver and the Z then it would be an M5.

anyone who slates these E39 M5,s have not drove one....they are stunning and the midrange punch would blow a zed into the weeds imho.

They are rather pokey. As luck would have it i have actually got it now anyway. Decided I had the money and that it was silly to leave it at the previous owners for a couple of weeks. Mainly as it was full of fuel lol - I'm having that. So huge rush job on Friday night it's now moored up at my parents. I wasn't sure it was that quick at first but following my dads 745i up the hill towards my parents house I nearly hit him on the back and I know he had it pegged!

So its fast then:thumbup: good to here you now have it mate and looking forward to some pics when you have it clean:yes:

You and me both! I've not seen it clean or in daylight for over a month! I have the say the previous owner had hot pressure washed it for me, but it was dark when I got there. Drove it the 9.5 miles back to my parents house, locked it, gave the keys to dad and then jumped back in the van to drive to scotland. I'm up here now until wednesday and then away for work until friday!.

Worst bit as the zed hasnt gone yet I cant insure the M5, or should I say I havnt as yet. Im going to try and do a deal with my insurance company to have both on for a short term. I doubt they'll do it but I can try!

Whenever I replace my daily driver I ring the insurance co up to transfer my policy to the new car, and each time they have offered me between 7-14 days grace period on the old car to give me time to sell it and include any premium difference in my monthly instalments. Thats with various different insurers.

Nice choice mate:thumbup1: , great cars , and funny enough was looking at getting another one in the spring , though i have a problem , i am also hooked on the 645iL and the 650iL , or the 760iL to replace my 740i , though if the right Z came up i would go to 10k but it would have to be bloody awsome , like BazzaJG had , but that was too soon for me. Enjoy it mate , very reliable if maintained properly.

Tony

Nice! I wanted one of these instead when I bought my Zed but the insurance was insane! Hopefully be able to get into one in a year or so. My old housemate had one and it was just awesome, so comfy and refined compared to the zed...

Really nice mate and don't listen to the nay sayers, that motors got some really fine genuine racing pedigree

and just to add, in January.....can I have the engine after you've put it arse end into a ditch
