right i was pretty good at physics in school but we never coverd this..maybe somone can help

in clas we were taught about terminal velocity i.e the constant velocity of a mass falling in earths gravitational pull..which i was shown was approx 126 mph..

so can somone explain how felix broke the sound barrier n not just by the mass of his testies:biggrin:

maybe i should alter th question..how do you exede terminal velocity on a vertical plane without propultion?

Terminal velocity is dependent on the Frontal area of the falling object and Air Density its falling within.

In the full dive position (very small frontal area) within lower density atmosphere from very high altitude the Terminal velocity is FAR greater than that of a human in regular free fall.

but surly once you enter the highter density atmospher it counter acts the resistance of the faling object..if you droped a perfect shere from the outer atmospher itll acelerate faster but it wont exede the gravitational pull of 9.89 give or take(im kinda drunk)..im not trying to disprove the felix guy did or didnt do it i just want to know the basic maths invovled in beeting graity

Thank you for asking that question and then for answering it. I have been asking various people for weeks. Now I can sleep again, lol!!!!

and i was of the understandin that terminal velocity was the maximum that any object could reach no mater the size or shape...like the question whats heavier a ton of bricks or a ton of whats ever..droped in earth atmosphere theyll accellarate at diffrent speed if you will but fall at the same rate one achieved the maximum rate of fall/resistance...terminal velocity..im probably wrong but thats how i was taught physics

I just understand it as the atmosphere is thinner up there so you have less resistance as you fall. The air being thinner is the same reason airliners fly so high, less resistance so they consume less fuel. It was amazing to watch him do that, a very unique experience

yea definetly its anoutstandung achivement..like manon themoon its a mile stone..thefacktthat hes proved the human body can break mach1 thats on the same level as walking one the moon..i feel thoug that the achievment isnt being reconized as much..if it wasnasahat done it though it be a different story

too many variables, wind resistance, size of object, aerodynamics, no two objects will ever be the same, the terminal velocity is only achievable as far as im aware in a vacuum, where the only variable is gravity

So this is what is discussed in the small hours of the morning:biggrin:I was exspecting him to burn up at that speed and his parachute rip to pieces when he opened it but it all went well apart from him going in a spin at the start and he even got control of that.

What he needed was a quantum singularity projector.

This would create a miniature black hole (about the size of a grain of sand) in front in front of him that pulses on and off very rapidly. He would then be pulled toward the event horizon of the black hole and effectively be in free fall with no feeling of acceleration due to the bubble this would create around him. As everything in this "bubble" is being pulled forward at the same relativity of mass you would not feel it.

Given enough time say around 10mins at x times gravity (pull of the black hole) he would achieve a speed of around 299,000kps (kilometres per second) or 99.7% c (the speed of light) (roughly).

Too slow down he would have to project the singularity behind him at the same rate as his acceleration, other wise he would shoot off at near light speed for infinity or until he hit something ( a single photon sized particle would be enough to cause an explosion large enough to destroy the planet)

Now that would be one hell of a mod for the zed :w00t: especially if it was also fitted with an Alcubierre drive (google it)

Pity it's all theory really....
