Need a picture of the bottom of a stock and a Wiseco piston

If anyone has any pistons to hand could they post up a picture of the underside of a stock and a Wiseco piston that I can use for reference to mine please.

Just had a trawl through Marks build thread but there is nothing of the bottom of the piston

Cheers

I needed the reference to check what I have in my engine Mark, they don't look like Wiseco's to me, what do you think? Do you like my Eagle rods, nice aren't they? I bet the ACL bearings and ARP bolts are there as well:cursing:

A 'trusted' member who recently broke his car, i'll speak to him later and see what he has to say. Fecking furious and upset right now, just been fed a pack of lies!

how much did you pay for the engine bud?

Not sure who you bought it off mate but bare in mind that it's possible that he/she paid 'somebody' for a forged lump and assumed that that's exactly what they had sold to you

I'm just saying that you both might have been stung, especially if a certain specialist were involved in the build

Too true, we have seen those horror stories quite a lot in regards to a certain ex garage.

Story goes the engine came with the car, he had a local engineering shop dismantle it to check it had the parts he was told it had then he had the heads rebuilt, polished and ported and an uprated head gasket fitted. The build quality of it makes me think it hasn't been anywhere near an engineer and there is no reason an engineer would tell him there were uprated parts when there weren't so it was all just lies.

£650 - longblock

Not to put you on a downer here mate, i know it must be hard feeling like you have been screwed over on something but.

you pay £650 for a longblock engine with supposed forged internal? thats only £100 off what a long block in working condition is worth, didn't that strike you as the deal of the century?

Also why would a local engineering shop know anything about a VG30DETT, so may be they did do the work but they hadn't a clue about it.

I think the best course of action would be to contact the seller first. is there a link to the forum advert with the engine details in? if there is can you PM me the link please.

Not wanting to be argumentative mate but working longblocks go for far less than £550. They frequently sell for around £350 with all the ancillaries and tubs on here.

Yes it seemed like a very good deal hence why I bought it, it is after all a used engine not a newly reconned one.

I like to think that an engineering workshop would be able to take a rod and piston and see who made them. The rod clearly has a Nissan symbol on it and an Eagle rod has Eagle written on it and is easily visible with the sump off. I managed it and removing a piston would have easily identified that.

All discussion of the engine was done via PM and phone.

Anyway im calling him tonight so i'll take it from there. I don't want this turning into a witch hunt/slag fest with any names being dragged through the dirt.

Cheers

Most engines go for around 200>300 these days

i my self have picked up 3 complete working engines that only amount to 200 quid

so i would say hes paid 300quid to much regardless if its a Stock or meant to be forged

the main point is he was SOLD a forged engine and it is not

Those are priced for a quick sale at £350, i know ive been in the market for 3 engines so far, only those wishing for a quick sale or to just get the room back or they know the engine might need a rebuild sell for less than 500 mate. been like that since ive been here.

You are also basing your argument on them knowing the VG30DETT and what standard and wiseco pistons look like, if he had asked "does it have forged internals" and there answer was yes, then they would be correct, the TT does have forged internals, they are just OEM forged internals. W'co pistions have the name on the side and a stamped serial number on the top. unless they took the pistions out, if they didnt have a clue what to look for between the two then i highly doubt they would be able to give an accurate analasis, im sure i could ring a number of engeering firms around here, and although they might be good at engeering i doubt they would be able to tell the difference between OEM VG30DETT pistions and uprated ones with out doing some form of research.

I have asked if you can provide a link to the Engine advert so we can get to the bottom of this and if he openly said it had the parts on the forum and misled you into the sale, because if this deal has happened outside of the club there really isn't much we can do to help.

I'm just trying to ascertain as to if we do have grounds to act or not.

I don't think that there's a witch hunt brewing or that people are being nosey/curious ****ers. At the end of the day if fake forged lumps are being or have been sold for £650 to forum members then:

(1) there's potentially a scammer out there trying to make a couple of quid out of forum members who more than likley don't have the funds to lose

and

(2) when people try to sell their pucker forged lumps they will have to contend with this bullshit perception of 'going rate' whereby people think that they can get an engine that cost 'X' thousands of pounds to build for around £600 and a packet of crisps

Vods, yes I see your point on how it was worded to the engineer but regardless my PM lists parts. Steams contacted me this morning so i'll dig the thread out for you guys if need be, im sure it will be perfectly civil. Thanks for your help

J.S you have a PM regarding engines and crisps!

Its a bit naughty if they have sold under false pretences and theres that element of trust which us members have also. We should be able to trust what each other says in adverts etc... I would feel really let down and angry also.

Hope you have it sorted mate.

its half the reason im building my engine myself so i know exactly what im getting,

really sorry to hear it though, know what its like was sold a set of turbos not too long ago and im convinced they are not what they were sold as, will be finding out when they are sent off for inspection in the next couple of weeks.

good luck with getting a resolution.

This is excactly why i take pictures and have a photo album of work done to my car so that any potential future owner knows without doubt what they are buying.

I feel your pain mate when it comes to engines tho, as i bought 2 from forum/s and both were knackered and never recieved a penny back for either of them.

Put it down to one of lifes lessons unfortumatley. I hope you can get something sorted from the seller in form of costs and or a full refund as thats the correct thing to do.

Exactly this ^^^^^

Cheers guys, i've been speaking with him so could the thread be locked for now please as I don't feel it's right that he's potential going to be victimised from what was just supposed to be a reference thread. As it's not as I was told I have called him so we can sort it out.

Cheers

Just read this such a shame,

Like someone else said there's alot of trust involved in buying from people you've never met just seen on a forum, my missus is always moaning are you sure the parts are ok, you don't know them ect,

I always say there on the forum so I should hope I can trust them as I'm sure they wouldn't wanna be stung themselves,

With out buying from people on places such as this then sourcing parts for the zx can be difficult, that's why you just hope the things and people you buy off are genuine
