ignition system replacement

My misfire is now happening on the road not just the dyno. I think its mostly cyl 6 but I think its time to replace the ignition coils, PTU and low tension wires.

Is courtesy nissan the best place, and is there anything else worth replacing at the same time? (I got new plugs). Anyone know the likely cost?

Who knows how to fit the new tension leads to existing loom?

Do you mean the coil pack wiring and plugs Coogs?

If so you just cut the crap ones off and solder the new plug onto the existing loom wiring. wink.gif

Just a solder joint? Sounds easy.

I am going to get the full harness and not just the connectors so this should just plug in to a connector somewhere right? But if I get the one off the 4 cyl Nissan Pulsar which has 4 connectors only, how do I connect up the other two connectors from the 2nd harness?

I have bought the Pulsar bits from Courtesy and after a very swift glance I decided that you were supposed to cut the plugs off (with some lead) and solder them to the existing wires. I don't see much chance of them just pluging directly into the existing loom. Can anyone confirm this ?

No way, either solder new coil pack connectors onto existing loom or whole new engine bay wiring loom...no easy way round! Hence why I had my loom replaced by SE while the engine was out.

Ask Az about fitting a new loom! LOL biggrin.gif

Nelson can do a new loom with the engine in but I think it takes them a couple of days in labour.

Dave Buckley did a 300 loom a few years ago when I first went to see him.

He showed me the old one and it was a spaghetti bolloxnase of a thing, I said rather him than me! wink.gif

Is soldering the new harness onto the old one a simple diy job? I've soldered wires before but I'm no xpert. Has anyone got a "how to" idiots guide?
