Well, its had new door rubbers and targa rubbers fitted, but where the targa meets the drivers side A pillar, it doesnt look like its forming a seal correct, well i know it isn't as at the moment i have a pan collecting water inside the car.

Ive checked the rear door runner that pulls the window into the rubber, the 10mm nut was missing, so i replaced that and all was good for a while, but we have had torrential down pours for the past 24 hours and its leaking badly again. anyway ive also tried the match stick under the rubber trick but still no luck.

any idea's? as id rather the car didn't eat its self alive from inside to out.

The arrowed flap, seems too loose, so the water isn't being directed down the inside of the rubber, its finding its way down between the targa rubber and the door rubber and into the cabin

as you can see from the rear rubber, it doesnt seem to fit correctly, ive checked on my blue car and this is all squashed together, where as here you can clearly see a large gap between the rubbers as if the taiga rubber is too short? ive tested my blue targa panel that didn't leak in these areas, and that too is the same, it looks as though the targa rubber is too short, yet its not as it works fine on my blue zed?

this is the join on the front where the targa meets the A pillar

Hi,

I'm sure Jeff posted a fix for this.... I think it's because the blubbers aren't sealed in the corners enough. (i could be wrong, but it's work having a look at the post)

if i put my black targa on the blue zed, it seals nice and tight, with no visible gaps between joins, so its not the targa rubber, its the door rubbers that do not seem to meet the targa rubbers, but whats annoying, ive measured the open gap between A pillar and rear of the car door rubber on both cars and the gap is the same distance, yet the rubbers are in the correct places? so im miffed as to why the door rubbers are producing a gap?

You sure you didnt get the sides mixed up,it should have a step in it at the rear iirc.In fact the more i llok at the pics id say they were on back to front mate.

which ones? the door rubbers only go on one way, or are you on about the targa's?

upon further inspection, i see what you mean, but why doesnt my blue zeds targa's go on and "seal"? they are on the blue car correctly and do not leak and when i place them on the black zed, i still have the same massive gaps.

targa ones bud, door seals prolly would go on either side, targa seals will, deffo looks arse about tit, compare with your other car.

Now that you mention it mate, I'm thinking the same..

going to go down and see if i can reverse them quickly before it pisses it down again lol i see what you mean though, does look backwards

Right changed them around, the passenger side looks like its now sealing correctly but the drivers side still looks like it doesnt fit :(

Seems to be a MASSIVE gap at the rear

and the front doest fit much better either, infact i can now see into the cabin through a tiny hole where the rubbers dont even meet any more.

You can see the gap when the door is closed through the window lol damn it.

mine on the drivers side are like this with the gap, driven with a towel on my leg sometimes to avoid the wet patch lol.

well there is 2 screws either end holding it in place, there is a metal runner behind it, but best to leave that in place, the two ends pull out side ways, the rest you can just pull on to free from the metal runner, tomorrow im going to see if stretching it slightly then screwing it back down will seal the gap, i think you can do that as the OEM screw location hole in the rubber, is quite long compared to the screw head that tightens down onto it, so my theory is you can adjust it lol

Ill let you know the out come when i have a bit of time and daylight to attempt it lol

  • 2 weeks later...

I fitted full set of new seals, it took a long time and almost endless fettling before they sealed properly.

You just need to keep at it.........you'll be demented

Adjustable they are! Good luck.

That might work for your rear end mate , but not on my targa rubbers, if it was that easy id of done it by now, unless i use 2inch thick chunk its not going bridge the gap in my targa rubbers between the targa and the A pillar.

You say new rubbers fitted but those things are STUFFED... vaseline will see you through for now but if those have been replaced im a tibetan monk.

Only a mod could get away with that rear end comment, u been spying on my arse? or did u find the website? 0.o
