Automatic mirror folding and turbo timer arent working properly

Hi chaps

After bringing my car home from Zedworld and since speaking to Jeff, seems like it may be a setting to do with the Alarm...

My car is a series 2, and when the engine was turned off the side mirrors automatically fold in and the doors unlock. The buttons are all in the same positions before they went to Zedworld.

Now, the doors still seem to lock/unlock as before, but the mirrors dont automatically fold anymore. Also, when I start the car, the turbo timer comes on as normal and sets itself at 60 seconds, but then when the engine is turned off (regardless of how long it has been running) the turbo timer just goes straight off and does not run down.

Car has a Toad alarm fitted (although I'm not 100% sure of the model).

Anybody got any ideas? Is there anything I can try and test (preferably in a guide for idiots!)

Cheers

Alex

Before, this light was never on when the car was unlocked, but now it is on. Dont know if this is something to do with it as well?

Sorry buddy I havent.. but I would of thought you take it into a garage it should come back out with no extra faults?

Just thinking out loud really but on a past car I have a problem with the stereo not working unless the engine was running. Turned out one of the connectors on it was loose from the cars 'constant' 12v ring. I would assume the 300zx has something like this, and it would make sense if the turbo timer and wing mirrors folding were wired to it.

I could be totally wrong but it sounds to me like those things rely on having constant power to function after the engine is turned off. I'm not sure if there is a related fuse that could be checked, but might be something to think about. On my last car constant 12v was supplied by a rather crude wire spliced onto the batteries positive terminal.

Cheers

Has the battery been disconnected for a period of time as some alarms can go back to default and need extra options to be turned back on.I would also check fuses for the alarm system..Lee

I don't think there would have been any need to disconnect the battery for any length of time - the work I had done was at Zedworld and obviously Jeff and Jamie know what they are doing...

I think it could be something to do with a setting on the alarm but I don't really have any experience of doing anything with alarms so arent sure how I would go about resetting it?

This is a bit aftermarket car specific and is difficult for members to help you.

You will have somewhere a module/relay to make your mirrors do that and you'll have a turbo timer harness, you will just have to take some panels and trim off and chase the wires about and check for a loose connection - my guess is it'll be like spaghetti

Could well be just coincidence that it as failed after being with Jeff.

I know someone fairly local who's entire business is based on car electronics, he installed the sound system and alarm on my old Honda...

Might give him a shout, see if he has any ideas

Cheers guys
