Dodgy tick over

Last one for now hopefully the more time i spend on here i can give somthing back to the forum. I have had my Z fully serviced. Spark plugs the lot. But every say 20 mins of running I will get the ocasional 60 secs of dodgy tick over. Like i am missing on a cyclinder or two. This once happened when i applied the barkes hard. E.G. When the engine had to work harder. Noramlly reving the engine will clear this problem.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Mike.

Could be all sorts mate.

I would suggest starting with the coil pack connectors and making sure that they are all clipped on properly.

Sounds like one maybe loose and every now and then losing a decent contact with the coil pack.

Was it OK before you had the plugs done?

Had this problem from day one. I have only done 500 miles in the beast since it got here from jap land. Ill have a look into that. Cheers

Where abouts are you? Loads of different things to check wink.gif

In kent near canterbury

Anyone from here live near kent then? LOL Was going to say if you are anywhere near, I'd give you a hand but I'm in lancashire so... wink.gif

Basically you are going to have to check every connector you can find for corrosion or a bad contact - pull of the plug and look at the terminals - are they full of green sh1t? If they are, clean them up with some electrical contact cleaner. Once you have done all the connectors, have another look and you will find another couple - there's lots to check and its easy to miss one wink.gif

Another possibility is the throttle bodies are a little bit clogged. Do you know if these have been cleaned? Check this thread for more detail wink.gif http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/ubbforum/Forum6/HTML/001609.html
