without going for a big upgrade, have you guys got anything to say on drilled/grooved discs such as

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/300ZX-3-0-Twin-Turbo-Front-Rear-Drilled-Brake-Discs-/300472173657?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Model%3A300+ZX&hash=item45f5898459

or, better off with a decent brand solid disc?

my current discs, although not showing heaps of wear/lip, are starting to cause vibration under heavy braking at say 60-70mph and wondered if i'd be better off with vented/driled to try and prevent warping in whatever set i get next

opinions pliz!

My general view is that drilled discs are far more likely to crack than solid ones, probably best avoided. Discs also very, seldom actually warp, so that should not be a concern for road use.

polybushed :)

Have you checked for cracked lower arms then? Lol!

You always hear that drilled discs crack but does anyone actually have first hand experience? And if they're so bad then why does nearly every supercar have them?

I have a CLK Black Edition in my workshop at the moment - the customer has come back from a couple of track days & the discs are cracked everywhere around the holes! Still, only £670+vat per disc!! :scared:

Interesting that I have a slight warp on my stock discs at higher speeds after couple of braking sessions and after fitting the spl tension rods with there optional brake deflector air vents 90% of the warp has disappeared so air flow is an issue to the discs

warp doesn't fix itself so sounds like you had pad deposits on the disc
