Transmission banjo bolt

Managed to destroy the treads in the top banjo bolt hole to the transmission oil cooler.

Can I get a banjo bolt that is one size bigger and just use a bit of force when entering the bolt. The gearbox bonjo hole is aluminium so a steel bolt should just make new theards by itself if I can enter it...or...

I don't want to remove the gearbox again if I don't have to

would,nt try the above bud, where does the metal debri go your forcing into the hole...depending how bad you tore the thread then ide try plenty of plumbers PTF sealing tape around the bolt as it might grip and seal..then only option would be to pull the box

If i do it i would of course have to change the oil.

There is just enough treath to enter the banjo bolt a bit. Not enouh to tighten the bolt

well your options are kinda limited...just check to make sure the oil passage does not go into a valve body and instead of "forcing" a bigger bolt ide go for a helicoil or new thread insert making sure you plug the hole before you start with something you could retrieve with a pick and keep vacuming the metal debri out as you go...goodluck

You could get a tap, or thread chaser the same size/thread as the hole, and clean the thread up, but with the same problem of debri.
