My car has stock auto turbos, injectors and internals with 60,000 miles on it. A couple of months ago zedworld gave it a good looking over and got it running sweet also fitting an eprom and setting it to 13.5psi. The car does not have an EBC so I assume Jeff used boost jets??? After this I had the knock sensor fail and bypassed it, it only gets v power or equivalent.

But! I just fitted a drift iridium boost gauge because the stock one was off the scale and in mm of mercury. It shows 17/18 psi. I fitted a Selin dual MAF and Hardpipes but it shouldn't be that high. How can I turn it down is it possible without buying a boost controller? (I will get one at some point) also will it die in one go or just wear out more quickly. What has brought this to a head is that I was thinking about one last drive this year being a track day on Saturday and I am having a heart versus head moment. Thanks.

A boost controller would be one way, but the simple and cheap one would be to fit smaller boost jets.

That would be fit larger sized boost jets to reduce the boost level, however it is strange the boost has risen since been set up on our calibrated boost gauge? your right to be concerned and let me know if you want some alternative jets.

Yeah that's the one, which is why it's got to be +/- 1psi. I'm planning to take it on risk one last boost gamble before winter on the track day. I will let it warm up and cool down as always change the oil and plugs before hand keep an eye on the afr and oil temps. Had i not fitted the gauge i would have been booting it aboit oblivious to the high pressure. It will be off the road from the end of the month anyway. Jeff thanks for the offer I think I'll go for ebc, where can I get one fitted in the north east? Perhaps get it on a rolling road too?

evotune in Durham have the rolling road and would fit your boost controller as well..

Ill meet you at Evotune one Sat morning and get mine done as well if u fancy?

Im buying mine soon but will probably ask Jeff to fit it next year when I take it down..

As you said i'd stick it on the rolling road and get them to shove the wideband up each exhaust for a pull

that sounds like a plan harby, wait out on exactly when we can do it ill have to speak to them. Its good to have somewhere recommended, I don't want some guy that does ford focuses all day long trying his hand at my zed!

LOL. hes an evo specialist. Bird couldnt get away with him but I thought he was a really good lad, set my wheel geometry and corner balanced the car for me.

Let me know which Sat you are free and Ill drop him a mail.

Jamie races evo's and does all his own work.

For fabrication, clutches, bearings etc I use ACR at croft.

Hes a vw specialist who builds drag cars. Andrew is very blunt and to the point but would never rip you off or take anything on he couldnt manage.

Anything specialist, Jeff...

I wonder if they could do it this week? Probably not as it has to be a couple of days to fit a boost controller right? If I could get it done before my track day it would be good. I will give them a call...

if it truely is running 17psi and you have stock injectors, I would get it sorted. Doing a track day like that will damage something which will be way way more expensive than the cost of the track day
