Boost pressure.........a lesson learnt!

I thought i was getting use to the car etc.

But i did a job today i meant to do before Billing,

Replace the 'O' rings in the ballance bar& clip all the vacume pipes.

WHAT a differance smile.gif

Throttle down, idle throttle, boost up & max boost....I thought all was fine before!

I must have had an air leak somwhere! If anyone else is suffering from the odd gremlin, try 'O' rings & clipping smile.gif

'O' ring codes are - (219) x2 @ 33mm x 3mm. & (115) x 1 @ 17mm x 2.5mm. about 30p ea NOT NISSAN! but from any good hardware shop & micro jubilee clips - from wherever you can sorse them.

Hope its helpfull

timmy, I also have the rear-most bolt from the passenger side missing off the balance bar cos the thread is stripped frown.gif

Do tell me how you go about fixing it, I have no idea tbh frown.gif

About an hour inc coffee, very easy to do.

& total cost £3.80 ish.

12mm, 13mm spanners & a philips.

Just make sure you don't drop anything inside the plenum!

Guys,

if you stripped the thread in the ali hole- the bolts are 15mm long!

Use lockctite 274 with a 20mm bolt, gently tighten, the locktite will make a new poly thread in the ali.

I say gently cos once the bolt reaches torque you are only bighting on 5mm of thread

untill the locktite sets! if still not sure do a dry test with no bal' bar on & see if you need to put an extra washer on (perhaps)?

if you want to repair a stripped thread properly, get it heli-coiled. you can buy the kits & do it yourself if you want.

I feel the need, the need for speed!

helicoil is the way to go fellas cos the coil itself is harder than the alloy so it wont strip again,

helicoil is easy to do just take your time and when tapping the hole hold the tap square to the hole, nd also 3/4 turn forward and 1/4 turn back, dont just wind the tap straight in!!!

Cheers guys.

Macca gave me a bolt but when I checked the hole it appears that the bolt that was there has been snapped off. Leaving half the bolt in the hole which adds further complication to the hole(Get it? LOL) scenario.
