I am in the process of trying to get the HICAS on my car back up and running. Fuse had been taken out by previous owner which I have now put back in. When trying to put into diagnostic mode, having a lot of trouble. In the manual I have, it states that only European models have the HICAS light, is this correct? I have the dash with no turbo gauge.

Anyway, aside from this I can only assume that the steering wheel boss is not HICAS compatible but wondered whether there was anything else to try or how to check before I just order a new one?

Dash circled.jpg

Thanks for the reply, rushed image I know and apologies to anyone I may have offended by using this pic but is the light along where i have circled? if so my next step is to check whether bulb removed!

Not hugely knowledgable, but my hicas has been disconnected and my warning light does appear in the above circled area. Hope that helps.

Will get the dash opened on sunday me thinks and check the bulb then. Havent had a chance yet but if the boss wasnt compatible the light should be on anyway, now I'm pretty certain there should be one at least anyway. Strange my owners manual says european only for the light :hammer:

Mines a jap 94 and light was on all the time in said area.

replaced the boss for a proper one. when i took it apart the previous owner had smashed it to bits.. Once fixed the light was still on.

Slight leak in the power steering rack. If your fluid is even slightly low, the light comes on..

Been tempted at times to remove the bulb myself.. lol..

Mine isn't connected up correctly at the boss, I believe this is why my HICAS light comes on after about 30 mins of driving which is in fact HICAS off, until I turn off and on and then the process starts again.

So I wouldn't necessarily say that you're light will come on immediately as mine doesn't seem to :thumbup1:

right so i managed to take the dash apart today. The hicas light was disconnected (and up in top right :D) so now ive hoked it back up. Without hicas fuse in the light is on, with fuse in it doesnt come straight on but when driving it like this before the back end was a bit skitty so havent taken it for a drive with it in and the light connected yet. Tried to put the car into the hicas diagnostic several times, obviously with the fuse in, but I cant seem to get it done. Thought i would then check the boss but is there any way to tell by looking at it whether it is hicas compatible?

I have attached this pic because the horn also does not work but there seems to be an extra connection with nothing attached. Any help much appreciated

I wonder if that is the feed one of these and then in turn feeds your horn and airbag multiplugs in the OEM SRS steering wheel.

that certainly looks like the connector and the whole part looks simliar to what is behind the boss. I didnt end up taking the boss off today, just the steering wheel as was running out of time.

Would I be right in thinking this is not a hicas compatible boss?
