cold start issue

for those of you who remember, I had a cold start issue with my zed causing it stall after about 15 seconds after starting. the problem wasn't too bad at first but just got worse and worse as time went on.

the car has been in the garage for 2 weeks now. they first diagnosed the problem as it being the aav and pipes, so with help and parts from mark derby (thanks mate) these have now been fitted and have half solved the problem.

thing is now it doesn't stall after 15 seconds, it lasts 1 1/2 minutes then starts running crap again till the engine is warm.

the mechanic has said he's guna try and have another bash tomorrow once the engine is cold again.

he said something about the hks filter and hard pipes (not really sure what he was going on about though)

The question is, does anyone else have any ideas on what could be the problem so i can let him know tomorrow when he rings me again.

the good news is i can definately get the car back by the weekend for santa pod :thumbup1:

mate, there are so many things that make a Zed run like crap....

Has all the preventative maintenance been done?

clean all connectors (including battery) and check connections are good.

check ECU temp sender unit

Check ECU fuel temp sender unit

clean or replace plugs

clean or replace air filter

replace fuel filter

check fuel pressure

check for fuel leaks

check air intake system for boots leaks

check TPS for correct voltage

check timing with a light

check injector are working

thanks for the help mate, i've done most of them, and the garage has probably done the rest but i will ask them about the ones i haven't marked as done tomorrow.

its just a bid odd in my opinion that it only seems to have the problem when cold.

this car is really annoying me and my bank account at the moment!!:surrender:

LOL... well for me it was a decision between having a bank account of having a Zed.. :)

best of luck..

if it is fuel starvation then there is a relay for the fuel pump in the drivers foot well just near the bonnet release and also a fuel ECU beside the back seat passengers side.

there is a guide for by passing the ecu either on here somewhere or on one of the other (Oz & US) tech sites
