Gearbox has lost reverse......forward gears seem to work though...

Noticed the oil level gearbox v.low...does the box need pressure to operate is it worth topping it up to see if this rectifies it or has the box completely gone......need urgent advice as it is booked in for recon box on tues!!!!

How do u top the gearbox oil up?

is page AT-70 of any use to you? It's the diangostic procedure to do with reverse. Page MA-23 shows how to check and change the AT fluid.

Just to add to that yes it does need oil pressure to work - no oil pressure, no gears!

Don't forget you check the oil with the engine running and box warmed to operating temperature. Hold the foot brake and shift through P-N-D-2-1 then back to P, letting the box engage each gear in turn. Check the oil on the H side of the dipstick.

If it's too low or too high you get all manner of weird and wonderful problems.

Cheers for info (been away for while)....

Car has no reverse but drives forward fine........first gear does seem to grind a little though.......

I think the box has gone........anyone else had similar...I would hate to think i am paying a fortune...and its something simple and cheap!!!!
