Fulda Tyres

Hi guys & gals.

I'm after some tyre advice. Pretty soon I'm going to have to replace all four tyres. I'm currently running Avons on the front (235/45 ZR17's) and Bridgestone's on the back (265/40 ZR17).

I find the Avons very noisy, so wanted to replace all 4 with Bridgestone's, but I've been quoted over £630 which seems a bit steep. However, for just under £400 I can get a set of Fulda's. I understand these are re-branded Goodyears, but other than that I don't know about their reputation.

Has anyone tried Fulda's?

If not, any recommendation would be welcome.

Cheers

Paul

Have a look at www.mytyres.co.uk as they have quite a range and deliver to your door.

You can get the Toyo's for about £100 a tyre or save some more money and get the Hankooks. If you go for the Hankooks don't get the Ventus 102's unless you have a deathwish - use the Ventus 104's).

Hello Paul,

If I remember rightly, they are made by Continental and I'm sure someone at Trax said they come standard with Porsche cars(my memories crap). Anyway, I've used them for the past 7/8 years and won't use any other tyre. They are great in both wet and dry and you'll get good milage out of them. They are not noisy tyres either. They definetly get a thumbs up from me..........

Hi,

I used to have Fulda Extremos on the front of my Z32 and Bridgestones on the back.

I found that the Fuldas tended to slip more and increase the understeer when compared to the excellent SO2s.

Falkans are very crap (I previously said Fuldas by mistake - opps). Rubbish grip and bad in the wet, uneven wearing.

Bridgestone's are very good.

If you go from Bridgestones to Falkans you will be very annoyed with yourself for trying to save a few pennies, when in fact I found the Bridgestones to last longer.

Yokohamas, and Toyos are the ones to go for.

Falken also get good reviews, but havent tried them myself.

For what it's worth I run Fulda Extremos - 235s on the front and 255s on the back. No complaints so far, but I've not tried any others.

Thanks for the replies.

I might shop around a bit and see if I can get the Toyo's for a good price.

Wouldn't it be nice if you could "try before you buy"!!!!!

I don't think many would disagree that the Bridgestones are best but you can get 2 sets of Fulda's for the same money. Yes they may not be as hard wearing but I've had 2 sets now and been very happy with them.

I get more than enough grip with 285's to notice any understeer!

Bridgestones SO2 great but SO3 not as good.

Toyo Proxes T1-S superb.

Falken ok but 2 of 4 split sidewalls after 3/4000 miles.

Pirelli PZero Assimetricos - awful

Avon - not great but not that bad

Just gone from Bridgestone SO2s to Toyo Proxes T1_s on my Scoob and pretty impressed with the Toyos so far. Much cheaper and a bit quiter too. Great levels of grip wet and dry but not quite as high on grip as the Bridgestones. Forget the SO3 they are pants by all accounts..

I went from S02 to Falken and I found them to be quite good, after they where warn in. They where very slippy at first and I was nearly thinking of getting rid, but now they are very good. Not as good as the S02's but I am not spending £150 per tyre which only last 8,000 miles.

The Falkens cost me £82 each. Thats a saving of over £130. A little more than just a few pennies

Just to add my two penny worth, had a set of 16 inch Falkens on a Volvo T5 est and had no problems at all. Period. And it was my work car so I used to 'use' it how I needed and I towed with it. I would buy again. I feel Anyone who says they are 'crap' are wrong. As others have said, they are not the best but are cheaper than the best. And they wear well enough too.
