Some might of noticed I've hardly been on here for quite a while, work at SFS has been ridiculously busy with shows and staff holidays. Kind of lost my mojo on the cars again and even the garage build has stopped

I have to see the surgeon in 2 weeks as my specialist has said there's nothing he can do for me and the internal reconstructional surgery they did 12 years ago all has to come out and they can't redo it again as I have lost to much of my small bowel as it is. Gutted is an understatement, I'm not sure how I face this as before the reconstruction I had a tempoary fix which I hated and now this will be a permanent thing. I know this seems a little criptic but some people know my problems and should be able to work it out, at 38 this isn't something I want and my wife has had no experience of it either, its worrying how she and indeed I will feel with this. Took the step today to call the specialist nurses about counselling which for me is a big step as I 'don't do feelings' and usually do the pull yourself together speech but I know confidence will nose dive even if all goes well with no complications, just finding it hard to motivate myself about anything at the moment....

I'm happy to report that I'm still alive !

Very sore and in quite a lot of pain but it's all done, op went well but took him longer than expected for some reason. I guess I will find out later why but I do know when they removed the pouch it had an abscess attached to it or in it so good job it's out. They also unstuck things again so I'm expecting things to swell again but hopefully not to much. Really have to say thanks to the wife as I've put her through a lot and she's been stood alongside me all the way.

Hopefully the worst is over. Get well soon..

Typically my rough day was yesterday my birthday, very sore and had 2 muscle spasm attacks. They were really scary as the pain was so bad I couldn't catch my breathe or speak which made me breathe harder which made it worse! The nurse didn't help as she just walked off and left on my back unable to move which just made me panic even more. Today has been better, managed 2 walks around the ward so time for a sleep as keep getting interrupted !

And for the other update no contact or get well wishes from my son :-(

Chin up Anthony just you concentrate on getting better, there's plenty of us on here routing for you buddy, take it easy and get well soon.

Well just to update everyone. Had a bumpy 2nd week after the op with pain problems and struggling to eat, eventually tho things seemed to settle down and I was discharged on 10th March.

Been recovering at home and finally eating a reasonable amount, end of last week things were uncomfortable and there was swelling in my abdomen. But I carried on for a few days, but it didn't get better so called out the specialist nurse Wednesday to have a check, she decided that there was some pooling behind the stoma and if it hadn't settled by Friday then see the GP. Well I woke up at 1am Thursday morning in horrendous pain that wouldn't settle and just got worse so at 3am we made the decision to go to A&E as out of hours GP said it could be 3-4 hours for someone to come out. By the time we got to casualty at 3.30am I could barely walk and practically fell thro the doors, to be fair they scooped me up and got me straight into a cubicle. After some x-rays, morphine and a drip to hydrate me it seems the bowel has stuck itself to to my stomach wall causing a blockage. So I'm still in hospital now and not allowed to eat so everything can rest, they are hoping that things will free themselves up, otherwise I'm looking at my surgery :-(

Sorry to hear this Anthony..... At least they know what is wrong and what needs to happen.....

Fingers crossed for you and for it to free itself without more surgery......

Bit slack on the updates sorry, but been struggling tbh. I spent another week in hospital, they wanted to see if things would free up naturally- problem is operations cause scar tissue/adhesions, so if they go in to clear the scar tissue/adhesion to free it up; you guessed it, it will cause more scar tissue/adhesions so it's catch 22!

So I was starved for 5 days and then I was allowed to eat soft foods, seemed ok so they let me out last Thursday. Things went ok until Sunday when I knew something wasn't right, so spoke to the team Monday and they confirmed the symptoms sounded like slight partial blockage again, so back onto fluids only for a few days. Started a soft diet Wednesday and ok so far, the highlight was last night where I had a piece of bacon in my pasta! Rock n roll lifestyle I think not !

Thanks for the words of support on here and letting me 'vent'. I am finding it quite tough at the moment as after 8 months we still seem to be 2 steps forward and 1 back with no definitive end in sight, Kerry has struggled to; been tough on her to run the shop/day job/house/dogs and me with very little help. We are looking forward to some 'normal' time together as we can't remember that atm.

And still my son won't talk to me, I send messages to him every week, even when I was rushed back in but no response, its like I don't exist and he doesn't care anymore, very hard to accept but the twisted ex has finally got her way.

Anyway this week I thought f**k it and we booked a week away end of May to Tenerife, I will be there whatever!

Bloody hell you're having it rough (understatement!). I had a full colectomy with loop ileostomy back in October and had a blockage 2 weeks later....foolishness/over confidence that I have been extremely careful not to repeat! Agony that is hard to describe so hopefully they can sort it out for you.
