Maximum cc of a 300ZX ?

Anyone know what the answer to this q. is ?

I have heard of 3.1 litre. Can you go higher than that ? Do you need to make any other mods to go with an increase in cc ?

You can probably go bigger but you would need to re-map the ECU I would have thought...?

Im pretty sure a part supplier in Japan sells the stuff to go to 3.3

Anyone know if increasing cc's can restrict other mods you do - ie. does in mean the engine is less strong ?

The JUN record car was/is I think 3.1 litre. Maybe that is the optimum size for ultimate tuning ?

Just means that the cylinders are slighly wider or may just be larger rings. This means that the gap between the cylinders is slightly smaller and thus weaker.

Arent you happy with 2960ccs? wink.gif

From 'experience' (i.e. conversations) of oversizing cylinders, an average seems to be .05litres per cylinder, 2 litre 4 cylinders goes to ~2.2 and a 3 litre 6 would go to ~3.3

where youd go to get it done i dont know, and to be honest if ti was *such* a good option, people would choose it over large turbos etc.

I think the moral of the story is that it isnt really cost effective for the power/torque increases youd see.

If, however, you *are* getting literally everything else done to your engine in as far as modifications go, in one big go, then look at getting it done, youd be lucky to get much more than a ~3.3 engine size. and you would be spending an absolute fortune!

Here is a link to the Jun parts for 3.3L

Im pretty sure some of the guys on tt.net have done this when rebuilding an engine. I understand it to provide about 10% more power because of the 10% increase in capacity.

Bigger turbo's and the right chips would probably produce a greater HP/£ ratio.

If I recall one of the TTnet members is going to 3.7L, however that requires different pistons, rods, crank, bearings, rings..

The list goes on - IMHO not worth spending that much money purely for cc's.

3.3 is much easier since the parts are readily available, rather than custom parts.
