Resistances for temp sender test..

Couple of daft ones;

need to test the temp sensor, think its knackered. What should the resistance range be from cold to warm?

Best place to purchase a temp sender from as well please...

Is safety boost 4 psi? im sure I read on a previous thread if you disconnect the battery for a couple of hours it will reset?

Is that correct?

Or ive fit the gauge wrong...lol.....

not sure on the first question

safety boost is 7psi

yes disconnecting the battery for 30mins will reset the ECU.

Ah, right so you've fitted an after market temp gauge.... well it depends on what it is to if it will work with the Zeds standard temp sender unit.

I installed a Tim temp gauge (I like the retro look) but it won't work with the standard sensor, I put a resistor in line to adjust it (not the best solution) you should be able to get the right sensor unit for your gauge from the place of purchase.

Was the original temp gauge working OK?

if you do need another one, then Zedworld or MJP (in the traders section)

Cheers Bud. I got the gauges from ZX-TT so all working when they came across.

The gauge is behaving like its receiving no signal. I know this because its now working like the oil pressure gauge.. lol.. that sender is knackered as well..

Theres a couple on line for less than a tenner, but never sure how good they are..

Ive found the resistances fro cold to hot so ill give it a test over a nice pan of warming water later...:shifty:

The temp gauge does have two wires where the Zed sender has one.. just need to be sure which it to earth I guess...

MMMmmmm, I'm not sure that's right....

unless it just connects to the wire from/to the temp gauge..

My understanding was that the gauge should have a power supply, an earth and a wire to the sender that returns a resistance. (as well as the wires for the light / illumination)

I suppose it could just have a power supply and then the signal wire.

Maybe you should ask him for an instillation or wiring diagram.

I do have a diagram and all seems okay. The two wires from the gauge did confuse me though, but told one is signal and one to earth from the lad i bought them off. been checking all over the internet to verify with no answer as yet..

Can I check the temp sender resistance with it place? if so it appears to be changing resistance as the car heats up.. so need to look back at the gauge..

might wait till JAE and pick some brains...lol....

Ah, don't think so.... one to the sender unit and one to earth... mmmm how on earth does it measure anything without power?

the only way would be that that gauge needed a sender unit that has two plugs... one for power and the other to take the signal to the gauge and the Zed one doesn't.

so I think you need to find out what sender unit it is supposed to work with.
