Brake Fade

Just got my first Z fast has f**k but it dont like stoping from high speed (Big time Brake Fade) s**t a brick!!!

CAN ANY ONE HELP.

Featured Replies

Get better brake pads.

Most places/people just put pads that fit the car on and not think that they can not take the heat produced by a Z's brakes.

Stuart

Get genuine new standard discs and pads all round, and flush the fluid and replace with castrol SRF. If you arent pleased, theres something wrong with you. wink.gif

THANKS

BUT WHAT PADS (GREENSTUFF)

BY THE WAY LIKE THE COLOUR!

I am sure that EBC changed the recomendation from Green Stuff to Red Stuff for the Z. I think they changes the Red Stuff pads so they work better at lower temperatures now.

Stuart

I had Greens on my zed before I sold it, and whilst they were better they were still in the 'holy sh*t, ammmi gonna stoppppp' catergory wink.gif

If you keep and eye on: http://www.gtr.co.uk/forum/upload/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=22

from time to time folks are selling GTR brake setups. Expect to pay around £500 and those buggers will stop you real good wink.gif

Lots of peeps have GTR brakes on their zeds and they fit straight on, you need bigger alloys but its easy enough - and GTR33/34 are the same.

Good luck,

..hang on a minute lads... I got a great idea..

.... and welcome to the forum Kev smile.gif

Yes yes yes.

I was in this category up until 2 weeks ago. At the beginning of the year, my front N/S caliper seized and brake fade would have been better than what I got after pressing the brake pedal - there was nothing...And when your trying to decel' from 110, downhill, toward a rownabout with traffic, it's time to prey, and prey I did. Pulled off a fancy bit of driving if I dont mind saying so myself.

Anyway, had my front calipers rebuilt and the defference it has made is UNBELIEVABLE. I can now stop when I want and how I want and I am running standard discs and pads. I dread to think how much better it would be if I had the rears done too.

That is the cheaper approach than the caliper upgrade. I had mine done at Zedworld. Top job - am very please with the result.
