while sat at pps,his zed has decided it dont want to leave

the car turns over and tries to ignite but but decides against starting

we tried a replacement PTU with a new one,but it made no difference

battery is fully charged

plenty of fuel in tank

doesnt seem like there is a fuel block or faulty pump as you can smell fuel after the

car has been turned over a few times

 

all fuses have been checked and look ok

 

any ideas or help is appreciated

 

Has it got an imobiliser on it ? Some cut the ignition but let the engine turn (and even briefly start)

 

 

Could it be a timeing fault!sounds like it,try and set it manualy,mark up the position first otherwise you wont know where you are,if it dont work tjust move it to original position,got nothing to loose in tryin!.Hope this helps, you never know!

In theory this should only be attribuited to something that Peter has done or touched. I think it unlikely that he will have gone near the timing and so I'd leave that be and not risk creating other problems. I'd be checking all the connectors that are anywhere near anything that has been painted or removed, running an ECU diag, getting a Consult/ConZult on it, making sure that fuel is actually getting to the plugs, checking the fuel pump and regulator, jiggling all the relays etc etc

I have to say that when I first heard about this I thought alarm aswell!

 

Best to start with the simple things I would have thought before CAS, PTU, Injector pulses, Coil pack removal, TPS voltage measurement etc. etc.

 

Car has been sat in a bodyshop FFS!!!

P.S. However, it might be worth checking out the MAF as it was someone on here a while back had a very similar scenario.

 

Was it Pali??? Car had been to the bodyshop and the guy rang him up and said it wouldn't start...in the end he took the car to SE as a non-starter and it turned out to be the MAF meter!

 

If shite gets in there it screws everything up!

 

Andyduff, remember Shaunmacs car and how it ran after he'd been driving it around with NO air filter on??? Hmmm!

I'm welling up!!!!!!!!!

 

The latest is Peter tow started it and it ran, it now starts with the key, and runs well above 2000 RPM. Below 2000 rpm it continuously hunts between 2000rpm and stalling, any further theories would be appreciated!!

You get petrol in the cats. But if its helped.

Maybe Topless' car works in a different way and has spark injectors and fuel plugs?

 

I'm going up there this afternoon so I'll see if I have any ideas.

They probably just put back the bits that ChrisC and Jaylox nicked off it whilst it's been sitting there !
