Hi all,

I'm taking an engine out a mk4 golf gti and I've brought myself a hoist (thanks for the recommendation Mark_derby) but not sure what to wrap aound the engine to lift it. A friend said he has always used ratchet straps but not sure i trust them.

What would you guys suggest?

I've always used old seat belts more than upto the job never strain in the slightest, as the have to be tested to about 10 times the weight of the average man so lift an engine easy

Ratchet straps will be fine. Just make sure they are over 35mm wide or over.

If they can hold this all the way to Turkey ?? :thumbup1:

Alan.......

ive lifted two zed engines, one was on ratchet straps, other on some seatbelts from a scrapyard. plenty strong enough.

I used a ratchet strap, wasn't a problem. If they can hold a Zed engine they will take a golf engine no worries

yep rachet strap is what i use too ... ... i loom it around the plenum in 4 places on to main hook more so at the front of the engine for Zed

there strong me i lift engine and box together
