As much as I tried to make my pennies stretch they couldn't stretch enough to get me a zed so I brought a ford focus instead, nice little car but one of the engine mounts has gone so needs replacing would it be safe to get one froma breakers or should I get a brand new one?? Money is tight and I know breakers will be cheaper but will it be safe?

Thanks in advance :)

Yea if money is tight as long as there's no cracks in it and the rubber is ok ie not perished it should be fine many many people use parts like these from breakers

Yup - as said above....

....although do ask for the price of a new one from your local motor factors (or even Halfords) - you might be pleasantlly surprised to find it's not actually that much more expensive than a new one...!!

Got to agree with this, I have seen breakers charging nearly the same as a new part from a main dealer. So it is always worth a few phone calls, try your nearest Ford dealer then a couple of motor factors before asking a breaker for a price.

Yes ebay can be cheaper, but not always. Again better trying a local motor factor first. There is also the added advantage that if it is the wrong part it is far easier and quicker to sort out.

Well after all that it wasn't the engine mount that was causing the noise anyway! It did need replacing tho so that's one less job that needs doing but the noise is still there and the bloke that looked at it for me hasn't clue what's causing it so going to have to book it into a garage and hope its nothing to costly.

Describe the noise Nicci !

Bang, rattle, turning left/right, braking, givin it welly ? Going over bumps, is it a diesel or a petrol ?

Someone will have had it before ?

Its coming from the passenger side, mainly when going over bumps in the road altho not always over speed humps sounds like something is loose type of noise, one of the boys said they can feel something in the footwell but the bloke who changed the engine mount looked at all the rubbers and gaiter things and couldn't find anything loose! He's not a proper mechanic so could easily have missed something but I haven't a scooby what it is.

I had the same on my Mondeo, much the same setup on the Focus, cheap fix ! Anti-roll bar !

They may appear to be ok when checking visually, but will probably still be worn.

Not sure on your year or spec, but this is what you are looking for !

Mines felt as if it was coming through the footwell as well !

Alan..........

If that aint the anti roll bar link i will be very very surprised. They go all the time on the focus!! Wee tip for you though when you go to your local factor they will tell you there is a choice of 2 steel or aluminium, They are exactly the same part just different material. Go for the steel version cost about £4 quid ( other 1 is about £10 ).
