Question for Andy Duff or Neil

Andy, Neil, I saw your replies to Nelson's post about the exhaust wrap. I am getting a new Mongoose this week and if:

1. It was worth wrapping the exhaust. If so I assume it is just the front section, closest to the engine.

2. Is it worth doing the turbos and can they be done on the car? Neil you mentioned just the sides closeest to the exhaust?

Andy, did you take the photos of yours?

Doing the clutch at the same time (well the garage is not me wink.gif )is there anything else I should consider while he is under there ?

Appreciate any advice.

Ta,

David

hi,

you want to wrap the exhaust manifolds, exhaust side of the turbo and the downpipe maybe a foot or so down the exhaust just to where it dissapears under the car,

really this isn't a job to be done with the engine in the car,you could but it would be very difficult,,better with the engine out!!

as for the clutch change, while the gearbox is off,i changed the rear crank seal, input shaft seal and rear gearbox seal and i would also change the rear gearbox mounting rubber,

also check the middle bearing/rubber of propshaft because these are known to vibrate,if they are worn,,,

Yeah what neil said LOL

Here's the progress so far with the engine - the heat wrap is not finished yet as the turbo's are only loosely mounted to the downpipes - wanna check the engine fits in there first.. LOL
