H3c for jap and H3 for UK, but H3 hids should be in there. You will find that the inside of the lens needs cleaning and inside of the glass of the headlight itself. Not a huge job, but a bit of a pain if doing all the glass and lens, but lens you can get to with a swab ( bigger than a cotton bud) like the detailing buds you can get from Halfords.

You should notice a big difference when clean.

just got standad bulbs for it, massive difference, thy will do just now till i can get proper hids for it, ones that was in car were cheap ebay jobbies

That is stange, even cheap HID should be better than standard, and dont be fooled by branded HID kist either usually rebadged one from China! in fact teh slim balast ones now available for the £20 to £35 area are great quality and at a cost that is well affordable, bear in mind when I fitted my first HID kit in 9 years ago the kit was £350 and that was trade!! still working though !!

Possibly was the wrong kit or the bulbs had not been inserted correctly (common )

That's what I was thinking too...... Even cheap HIDs will be better than OEM bulbs - however the previous owner might have chosen 8000k bulbs.... They would give too blue a light which is probably pretty useless; you need no more than 6000k but I would pick 4300k myself as they are a brighter white light as opposed to blue.

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

the lights were blue, standards will do for now till i get a decent set down the line

How would they compare to some like theses?

as there is a huge price difference in the two kits

Blimey the link is nearly £100.00, I would chance the ebay ones every time at £25.00, not sure it is even a 'chance', as you get slim ballasts and more powerful 55w units, all kits no doubt will have their origins in China anyway.

I bought my first kit well over two years ago from HK and still going strong, I think they were £28.00 back then

LOL - quite a good philosophy there really mate; a decent set of upgraded H3 bulbs (and by decent, I mean Osram or Philips - not the usual "blue max power" shite peddled on ebay) isn't much less than £25 now, so at that price, what have you got to lose?

Sure a few years ago some of these cheap HID kits were absolute rubbish, but things have moved on a bit since then!!

That's why I asked normally a huge price difference means that the cheap option is crap and not worth bothering with but will get a set from ebay as Richard said what can I lose

I've got a cheep ebay set in now, been in nearly 2 years I think and they're still going strong. had my m.o.t tester re adjust the height though because they were aimed a little to low for my liking. Regret getting the 6000k ones though now, they are rather blue.
