CAT 1 is just a standard. As I understand, you can have a CAT2 Immobiliser and a CAT 2 Alarm. But if you have both that work together its a CAT1.

I have a Meta and I am very disapointed about it. Its a Meta T36 Immobilser and then I had the Meta M99 Alarm on making it a MetaT36-99 Cat1 system.

I have heard good things about the Toad 606I I think it is called. I was going to have one instead of my Meta but I though the cost was over £400, according to thier site anyway.

Bob at safe and sound can do it for under £300. I cried when I found out.

You can go Clifford which are said to be the best but are very tempermental. Keep going off for no reason, which tends to make things worse. People learn to ignore your alarm then.

Toad are very popular, I have a Serpi Star which is an Italian make I think (!) and it has been 100% reliable for nearly 5 years.

Remember that 50% of alarm reliability lies with the installer, not the manufacturer !

I have an Autowatch CAT 1 alarm and no problems so far.

I had a TOAD fitted on the missus' 4x4 and apart from being a little sensitive (fitter guy was a bit keen) its been 100% reliable and never let her down.

I pretend to work, they pretend to pay me!

Hi,

I had a Toad AI600 on the BMW with no problems in 3 years. Basic CAT 1 so no fancy stuff to cause problems.

On the ZED I had a SIGMA, which again was very good, and no problems.
