engine mods

hey guys, i need some advise on moddin my 300ZX.

its a 1990 twin turbo auto uk spec

its standard at the mo appart from ebc turbo groove discs all round and green stuff pads. it will soon have a full mongoose system, the next thing i will be lookin at is a induction kit. but i dont know what to go for, and what to do after that.

ive been told not to chip the car as i will not be able to add on any boost controllers or anything like that on to the car after as the uprated chips dont be re-programmable. is this true??? I NEED HELP!!!, tell me what mods i should go for that will give me a quick 0-60 and mid range torque. im not fussed about top ends.

thanx for ur help,

i hear smithy (i think anyway wink.gif) is selling some rather nice induction kits at the right price, ive not heard any feedback about them yet though.

SE make one of the best chips for them, designed specifically for UK pump fuel, a lot of people rate them highly. And whoever told you not to chip it because you cant use boost controllers needs shooting!! A chip is designed to do exactly that! to deliver a safe amount of fuel at higher than stock levels of boost, something which would be dangerous to do on a stock ECU and would lead to running lean, and detonation. Maybe you should tell them that before their car blows up wink.gif

What is SE's web address? and what kind of prices am i lookin at? cos im on a very short budget at the moment (savin for uni fees)

it was a guy from GPS who said dont chip it, as i will not be able to use in-line conrollers n boost controller when it is chipped.

so what should i go for after the induction kit? and what others things should i look to purchase (in the order i should buy them in, to help me)

thanx again

WAHAY!!!!

Another student.

Have you checked out insurance costs first? I have a feeling it will go through the roof.

Stuart

I was 22 in april, the insurance in payin already is £1100 fully comp with 4 years no claims (in london).

i know i will get my **** kicked by my insurance guy, but everyone pays for a hobby.

if it goes too high i might try HIC again, i was payin £960 fully comp with one years no claims on a fully modded nova with £5000 agreed value. (mods included 2L 16v engine, exhaust, chip, induction, brakes, coilovers, alloys, body kit, changed interior and ice) they give great discounts for modded cars. i got their number if anyone wants to try them.

p.s. dont forget to let me know what types of prices they chargin fot the 300.
