Well after doing my pin 44 thing, and also sorting out my audio (seemed to have lack of base for some reason) decided to take my little boy for a driver and also test what effect doing wiring in the neutral switch was going to have.

Anyway, driving through down earlier, quite congested, couldn't do more than 20, had this black ford following me, anyway, was slowing down, with my indicator on to turn right, when next thing i know, i got shunted from the rear.

Although i had rust bubbles there wasnt any cracks in it like that.

There is more damage but these were the ones i noticed right away and took photos of.

The damage to his car was minimal

mine now most likely needs to be put on a jig, ill get better pictures in the morning.

think ill take it to a body shop first and get a quote for the cost to repair, then most likely go through the insurance on this one.

thats 2 times in a matter of 3 weeks someone has hit the back end of my car, and 3 times since ive owned it :( twice when it was sat still, and now this time when i was coming to a stop from 20mph.

Might be time i threw the towel in depending what the insurance say.

There is more body work buckling under the bumper, as i had a look, and the boot doesnt close properly now either, it makes a distinct metal hitting metal noise.

even with declared mods the car will only be repaired to standard spec

What then is the point in declaring the mods if they won't replace them anyway??

What a ball ache mate, i've heard a few times that even with declared mods the car will only be repaired to standard spec. Can you repair the bumper yourself then get the garage to spray it or is it to far gone?

I dont care what they say, it was his fault, they can fix my car to what it was before the accident, if they dont want to do that, ill ask them to write it off if they are not willing to repair it to how it was before the accident. (though might not get anywhere with that one, but if they refuse, ill get a solicitor involved and i know how much they hate that)

agreed, though if you do not declare the mods, they will say you are not covered lol, two edged sword, its also for valuation purposes.

Who knows mate, as Vods said if you don't tell them they won't cover you in the event of a claim

They cant change the car. Insurance is there to put you in the same postion you were in before an event.

I wouldn't worry tho mate, a new genuine standard bumper??? Probably more than any after market one anyway.

It will be written off, trust me!

well been having a nose about, i could replace it now with a few zeds on the market though most are auto's, but just going to wait and see. if they dont write it off and instead want to give it a full coat, ill need to get the abflug off car.mad my new wings and new side skirts, get everything done at the same time then.

I wouldnt worry about the rear bumper. it looks a really easy fix. sure the bodyshop can do that for you.

its cracked all over the place mate, down the sides, around the rear number plate, and all across the back. i dont want them to fix the damn thing, id rather they replaced it, which they have agreed would need doing.

the other thing is, even if they do fix it, i reckon ill end up breaking the car, if i come to sell it it would just be a pain in the arse as its accident repaired so will seriously effect the overall value.

If they repair it, it wont be classed as a write off, so wont be on the register. Nobody would ever know.

Apoligies here mate, cant work out how I missed this thread ? Kick in the arse for me !

My 90 import was written off for much the same scenario. Slightly different from you tho, as apart from the rear spoiler and the alloys, it was bog standard.

The damage to mine was much less than yours, rear bumper, rear impact bar (polystyrene ?) boot floor and rear panel slightly bent.

Have a wee swatch at this pic to see the damage ! Mines was the red one, and the damage was just below the n/s reverse lamps.

I opted to retain the salvage and they knocked £600 off the offer price. So I walked away with the car, and £2100.

Bear in mind this was over six years ago ? Sorry, crap pic ! Was taken at a meet at the Falkirk wheel ! At least no damage to the young un !

Still, its better than the one I had before that !

Thought so but just checking, was getting a desire for a slicktop suddenly

Dude this is all such bad crack. I really do feel for you. one of my biggest fears while driving is for someone to shunt me from the back. I know for a fact i'd end up worse off, either the car not been the same as it was, or it costing me more on premiums. its awful really.

Hope you get it all sorted bud with a good outcome.

Bloody hell Vods!!! I`ve been in Greece for 2 weeks and your car is dead???? what`s the latest mate?

at the moment still waiting on insurance, i rang them yesterday after it seemed i had had more contact from his insurance about it than my own, seems the body shop hadn't sent the revised estimate through with the photos of the damage, so i had to chase that up yesterday, i rang the insurance back when the guy from the body shop had said he sent them, just to make sure they turned up this time. otherwise id be taking my car to a different body shop

Hope they hurry their ass up though, got JAE soon and want to at least show up in some sort of jap car.

Just had a phone call, they are sending out a vehicle inspector to assess the damage and value the vehicle, seems the photos the body shop sent they couldnt work out where the damage is? lol blind gits, though i suppose it more to the point the body shop has given a revised estimate of the damage, and they are going to see if its worth repairing or not, as the email i had this morning was about getting hold of their insurance and seeing if they are admitting fault. which i believe has now happened and are now proceeding to the next step of repair / writing it off.

They are either going to turn up tomorrow or Monday to view the car, so time to get that rear bumper off me thinks.
