was talking to my boss today and although it would change my life and i would love to win the million pound, i doubt i could retire and live a fantastic life on a million pound, my boss agreed

now before you shoot me down read on, i reckon im right, it was worked out that in todays climate winning 1 mill and to last till your 65 will give you an average of around 35k to spend a year, which is more than im on now lol

but i reckon after ive payed my debt (with mortgage over 100k) off, then i would like to move to a private estate and probably wouldnt get much change from 250k for a decent house these days, then i give my family a bit and buy a couple of nice cars there would probably be only about 500k or less left, if invested correct then that would mean only about 17.5k a year to spend, i know there would be no mortgage to pay but 17.5k a year isnt extravagant

it would change my life for better but its not a retirable amount these days (im only 32 BTW) anyone agree or am i talking bullshit

p.s, still got me lottery on tonite, fingers crossed for the 105 mill win lol

If I won the million id stick it in the bank and continue to live my life exactly how I am living it right now, with the addesd bonus that I could buy something that I really wanted every now and again and the interest would probably pay for it

dont forget our deal Al... I've got plenty of tickets... :whistling:

I agree with you Allan......

....and I'd do a similar thing Dean as £1m is not enough to retire on now - and the interest nowadays wouldn't amount to much anyway....

.....so I'd clear the mortgage for one; buy a new SLK and a modest house in Cornwall (which I'd rent out as a holiday let until I was ready to move down there myself) and just carry on as normal.....

Richard:biggrin:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

I've said for a few years now you'd need £5m to set yourself up for life

5 million is a good enough number to live a lavish lifestyle, dont get me wrong with a million i probably wouldnt have to worry about another bill in my life, but it isnt lavish lifestyle money once you have payed for what you need to
