Under full throttle my Z has started to judder, slight pauses in acceleration. I gave it a few full throttle runs tonight, and after some gunshot noises, its started to have less judder / pauses in the acceleration, still not perfect though, a flat out 30-100 run now gets 1-2 judders compared to the 5-6 it was having before I did a few extra runs. Its the only time I have really gone full throttle in it to be honest. Thinking there maybe carbon build up or something like that. Hoping its not a missfire. engine runs smooth at all speeds, its just affected under full acceleration.

Any advice at all?

Might be your fuel pressure regulator or injectors. Mine is running lumpy on tickover at the moment and better when i floor it slightly, i know i have an issue on bank 4 and most likely an injector connector or failing injector.

If anyone has datascan or consult in your area, would be able to see whats happening for sure.

Briliant. Definatley running rich too. sometimes the stench of petrol is unbarable.

Now to find someone with Conzult or datascan. I think Jimmer will be my closest

If you have a smell of petrol then I would check the fuel lines in the engine bay mate. The become brittle over time and can leak, worth checking them all..

ok, so I bought some redex today. ran it with some super unleaded. Up a dual carriage way from a slow start, upto about 70mph flat out. 1 Judder, Big gun shot, lots of soot, loss of revs totally for 2-3 seconds (didnt cut out) and now it seems to be running perfect. Weird.

Im of to try out the new polisher mark gave me shortley, once its cooled down a little more, as the sun wont be beaming on the car whilst polishing lol.

Will post piccies.

Sounds like carbonation. The old chap prob never gave it some stick. Loads of querks were sorted on mine simply by driving

I have no idea Mark. Not very mechanically minded myself. Normally get friends or garages to do that side for me. Guessing I got to get plenum of to get to plugs. Im hoping to get in for full service inc plugs and belts with Jeff soon though. So should sort a lot out by doing that on its own.

You just need to unbolt the coil pack to get at the plugs mate. No need to pull the plenum :)

no plenum off for plugs m8'y ... just undo the coil packs & Balance bar for the rear two and u can get to plugs

Just did an ECU code check

Came back as:

34: Detonation Sensor Circuit

Edit*:

Spoken with Jamie at Zedworld. Advised it would be the knock sensor and to place a 1 mega ohm resistor in there somewhere (awaiting instrucions)

Ok Cleared codes. fired her up, tick over, reved up a little. turned of, re ran diagnostic, code 55: all fine.

not sure whats going on there. Plus you can do the code check without opening up passenger footwell.

shorting two pins on the "consult port" starts diagnostics. and the CEL flashed in the same way the ECU leds flash. short them again to stop diagnostics. MUCH quicker and easier. :D

Guide I found:

Consult Pins (LED and CEL):

a. Locate the Nissan CONSULT Connector. It’s a gray connector on the driver’s side right next to the hood pull lever. If you can’t seem to find it, fish around behind the trim piece a little, as it may have popped off its post in the past.

b. Using a paperclip, or small wire, jump the connection between pins 8 and 9 on the Consult connector, as shown below:

consultconnector.png

c. Hold the jump for three seconds, then remove the jump. This is essentially the same as turning the potentiometer on the ECU.

d. Once the jump is removed, the CEL will start blinking codes.

e. Insert the jump again, and hold for three seconds. Then remove it. This will clear all codes.

f. Turn the key off, and run codes again to ensure they’re gone.
