Here's a little video of what ten of the best is all about. At around 4.15 a pic showing the crowds and the buzz can see me and Pete (and of course the zed) waiting to run. Sunday is the main event and I'll be aiming to do well. I've had a few little niggles with the car recently (if killing the gearbox counts as a niggle) but keeping fingers crossed the car will run OK for the weekend. Practice saturday but won't be doing a lot TBH just setting it up ready for the main event.

This has gotta be better than a show and shine surely guys

Wasn't that a brand new box chief?

Good luck anyway matey

It certainly was and I've had to put my other box in. I've banned Dan from flat shifting with it :)

It was!!

Its a trashed s/h box now!

good job that Bob bought Madmax's car for spares.

even the later 98 spec new Nissan gbox is on borrowed time in a car as powerful as Bob's when driven in anger.

There is a better solution in the pipeline tho.

You'll need the gearbox from a more suitable donor I think.....

this should do it

Good to hear Pete, saw it at Jimmers and it's a awesome bit of kit. Will it remain drivable?

Oh yes . Bob has plans to turn the car in to a properly finished road car.

IMO it fell short of your description of "awesome" .It is/was a good collection of high quality parts but with some shortcomings.

It will be at my place some time later this year I think so maybe Bob will let me post up some pics of the revised car.

As always tho Bob's main focus (and mine too) is to make the white slicktop into the fastest most powerful Z32 here in the UK and to enter it in to various forms of motorsport. We dont do "show n shine":whistling:

Im not able to divulge further info at the moment but watch out for developments later in the year.

always enjoyed reading the write ups on this car, its come a long way, is it still the engine out of ceejays car in this?

really want to see it crack the infamous 200mph like originally planned aswell

I did buy it for spares but as you rightly say it's a decent car and will not be broken. Pete will be getting it shortly so he can work some of his magic and then it'll go back down to Dans to sort the mechanics out. With a bit of mix and match from the slicktop and some attention to detail it'll make a very nice road car.

Anyway, back to ten of the best. I must say that totb have really pulled out all the stops this is going to be a mega event with some very serious competition. Let's be honest, it's probably the best event ever for the modified car performance wise and you will see some crazy cars. Don't miss it!!!

I know what you mean Pete, I should have said the possibility, I always look at potential in something. Jimmer said it had problems, main one not getting the map sorted correctly. Look forward to seeing updates and pics of the 2 cars together.

Our posts crossed there Pete :)

yes it's still CJ's old engine. It has been rebuilt since then but once we got the niggles sorted it's performed pretty well. I will probably go for the 200 mph next year depends on how the rebuild goes but I want to do it from a standing start and in one kilometre lol. And i still want to be road legal so not making it easy for myself. Let's get this years totb out of the way see how we go and then I intend to set achieveable targets for next year including the top speed run :)

Thanks alan for your kind comments. Let me correct a little error first.

The original owner of Bob's Candy apple red car was CJ. Not Ceejay.

The engine now in the slicktop is based on the Old CJ engine but very little remains of it.

We really have to give credit to Dan Turner at AME Silvertone for engine work. Funnily enough the current egine is based on a NA block from one of my old breakers!!

The car is constantly evolving and changing. Already this season the braking and suspension have been upgraded.

TOTB will probably be its last outing in its currrent trim/spec.

we are discussing(and arguing!!) about the changes to be made.

You will just need to wait till its done before Bob will let me tell you all about it.

i will be involved in some of the changes so thats when you will get to see some new pics etc.

Without giving anything away we are looking at ......

Revised engine/power

revised transmission spec.

Revised aerodynamic package.

Weight reduction program

Now that is ALL I can say for now.... or I will be in trouble:death:

ah cj not ceejay, it really is an awesome project and its good to be seeing a zed used in this way, always thought it was left behind in the serious tuning scene but this car is certainly making up for it

look forward to the progress reports and pics

I'll be heading to TOTB this year. Would have liked to have entered the MR2, but ran out of time. Might still enter something for a giggle, works out cheaper than a Test & Tune day at Pod plus you get to camp & get pissed!
