1990 automatic na jap

Had wear on nearside tyre, so had a 4 wheel alignment check done.was told they couldn't set it up as there must be damage to some part of the suspension.I was told it could possibly be the upper arm bent.I recently had a steering rack fitted so it may of been bent then. The problem i have now is.do i try and source a second hand upper arm assembly,or fit adustable upper arms.I was also told that new springs will help with camber.does anyone know where to source springs from?. thanks

Personally I think it would be worth just sourcing a secondhand OEM replacement upper arm and see how you get on with that mate. Once you're happy that it was a bent upper arm that was the source of the problem, then maybe invest in upgraded springs/adjustable arms etc. otherwise you could find yourself chasing the error (which ultimately could cost you more in the long run)

thanks for your reply.i'll try and get it looked at first and then get any parts needed.seems to be plenty of cars being broken at the moment so should be able to get the parts.thanks again.

Ive got a spare pair of front upper arms for sale if you need some, complete with the mounting brackets as well :)

There is no camber adjustment as standard in the front suspension, so they would not be able to anything with it.

Also, an standard arm could only get bent in an accident, such as a very hard slide into a kerb, and even then its far more likely to a lower rather than upper arm.

Other causes of camber being out of range would be due to worn sagging springs and worn bushes. Did they say by how much it was out by ?

if your car has been lowered this will have the same effect & put the camber out too

car hasn't been lowered but does have 17" wheels.i was told that they checked all ball joints etc and all seemed fine.the standard camber limits are -1deg35'to-0 deg05'.the car has a reading of -2deg22'.had the car 4 wheel aligned 4 years ago and was fine.the only changes have been a new steering rack.will let you know rebel scum if i need the arms.thanks for all the input people
