What's up with my fuses? No ABS, HICAS, power steering, indicators, windows or seats

1990 TT JDM, 112K, Automatic

Just acquired a new Zed. As per title I have no ABS (lamp on), power steering, HICAS (lamp on), indicators via stalk, electric windows, electric seat, interior lamp or cruise control. The CAT warning light is erratic.

In addition my gearbox seems to be stuck in 2nd or 3rd. Definitely no 1st or O/D. I can go backwards, the O/D lights up but nothing happens. Sometimes you can feel it wanting to kick in but it won't. It had a reconditioned gearbox about 25,000 miles ago and the fluid is clear.

Perhaps it's wishful thinking but I feel all these problems are related. One thing I have worked out is the bottom row of fuses under drivers kick plate are:

Interior Lamp / CAT error light / PS & HICAS / Indicator / Cruise & Automatic Tran

Makes no difference if they're in or out. What should I be looking for that could be at fault? Broken wiring around that area?

Firstly, I would start with removing the fuse panel and check for a leaking targa pipe. Sounds like you may have had water to the back of the fuse panel causing electrical problems. Check for corroded connections and faulty relays etc.' fiddley job, but a good place to start.

May even be worth changing the unit itself if it particularly bad.

This morning I got the carpet up on the drivers side and it is wet underneath. The actual fuses and wires are dry but that's not to say they haven't been wet. Had to stop now because it's raining!

1. Is there anyway I can manually adjust an electric chair? I cannot get the carpet up properly as the chair cannot be moved to expose the bolts.

2. There's a large fuse box and a small relay box in the engine bay. Are there fuses located anywhere else that I may have tripped due to water ingress?

3. Does anyone know if the last fuse on the bottom row puts the gearbox into safe mode?

Ignition relay full of water. Drying out fuse box tonight and hoping tomorrows replacement relay brings things back to life!

Sounds promising,

Would recommend that you track down the source of the water ingress before re fitting.

If it is the targa drains then It is a fairly easy to fix albeit very fiddle.
