my car wont start!

hi guys,

last night in the petrol station i filled my motor up, went to pay and came back to only find that the damn motor wouldnt tick over!

when i mean tick over, its like theres no power going to the starter. all me dash lights come on but nothing after.....

got a sigma cat1 so initially thought it was the immobiliser (stil do) but the guy who fitted it says its the starter!!!

fellas wat do u reckon:

1) starter....would it so easily go without even saying goodbye!! or a hint!!

2) alarm (immod)if so how can me sort?

3) inhibitor switch...do they often go? how easy is it to change??

cheers jaz

One possibility is the statrer relay:-

Other options could indeed be the starter motor itself - have you tried hitting it with something to see if its just a jammed brush??? Try moving the gearbox selector (if its an auto) backwards and forwards then try it....

CheerZ,

I've had my auto inhibitor switch stick on me once or twice but moving it through the gears sorted it.

Seem to remember last time there was a post like this the battery didn't have enough 'cold cranking amps' left to turn the engine over.

Bit obvious I s'pose - battery connections - (?)

Auto gear shift seems a likely option.

I had a problem once where you turned the key to start the car and everything would cut out. After opening and closing the bonnet the car would then start fine.

It turned out to be something to do with the release button on the key barrel, WD40 sorted it out no worries! smile.gif
