Fuel ejection

Hi All,

Having some fun on the way into work with a BMW 530 this morning I managed to eject a huge amount of fuel. Turned out the guy was coming to my place of work and he pointed it out - he said I'd lost about 2 litres while cornering on a mini roundabout...

The tank was 3/4 full and the fuel seems to have escaped via the overflow. This might explain why my car spins so easily in the wet - fuel on the tyres (?)

Does anybody else suffer from this 'undocumented feature' or do I have a problem???

Cheers

Uh-oh - why am I always the bearer of bad news??? frown.gif

After going round the track @ Trax last year, no-one could work out why there was what seemed to be 'coke' running down the side of my car...

fillerneck1.gif

This was the reason. The filler neck had rusted and everytime I went round a right hand bend, it spilled a good few gallons down the side of the car.

Remove the rear splash guard in the nearside back arch and check the filler neck. From what I could gather on mine there is a weak point where the breather from the tank is attached.

Ring round for a s/h one wink.gif Got mine for £45 delivered.... I think...

LOL - hmmm...Andydoom, I'm not sure this is my problem, it does appear to be spilling out from the overflow/breather , surely if the neck was broken it wouldn't make it that far??

Cheers,
