Knock sensor question

As some of you probably know - i had this shitty 34 error. Mr Baz helped me out and sent me another sensor which i fitted on top of the engine (as advised by TwinTurbo). All looks good - i clear the error, got code 55 and after starting it up got code 34 back again!

Maybe it's wiring? How do i check my wires?

How do i check connections? I mean i got electrical tester but have no idea what to check against what .. There should be some resistance, etc ..

I remember reading somewhere that majority of code 34's are because of the wiring loom between the sensor and the main loom. I believe z1 have the bit that connects the sensor to the harness listed on there site. Our resident nissan guy Mike at MJP might be able to source you one.

This may be a silly question, but have you checked to make sure it isn't a valid error?

Sorry, but what is valid error? I already replaced my knock sensor and relocated... what else can i do to get rid of it?

Also - does anyone knows how to properly check knock sensor (if its working or not) ? And same about wire from ECU? Any figures - how many Omh, etc?

you need to Clear the ECU codes and then run/drive the car ... and then read the codes see if its still popping back up

Well thats exactly what i described in the beginning of this thread ... Error got cleared, after running car - it got back again. So - does anyone know how to check sensor and wire (resistance, etc)

just check the connections on both plug ends for corrosion and the Continuity of the White wire ... black wire is not connected on the sensor side

as the sensor is earthed by the bolt down

Not sure if it helps but as a rule knock sensors are torque sensitive........on v6 vauxhall engines the torque setting for the knock sensor bolt has to be spot-on and the mounting face really clean otherwise it can throw up a fault code.just an idea :)

Doesnt the knock sensor on a vg usually live under the lower plenum?........if its relocated doe it still function as it should?, as a knock sensor is essentially a microphone that 'listens' for a certain frequency (the knock), and if moved will it still pick that up as the knock sensor is designed to pick up the frequency through a cast iron block as opposed to an aluminium plenum (looks as though it on the plenum in the pic).surely its too isolated from the block itself (by the heads/plenum) to function effectively???

Fook it! Seriously! After 2 days of tests and shit - it still shows error 34! I even purchased 1mega ohm resistor and made a cable directly from ecu - still nothing.

I am guessing its ECU?
