Had some great fun driving around in some new Mercedes Models being released.

 

We had to drive:

 

The new A Class (at last - a decent small car from Mercedes - looks & drives fantastic IMO & is light years away from previous models!)

The new GLK (not for UK sale)

The new GL - a massive beast with an AMG option that will hit 60 in 4.9 seconds. Not bad for a huge 4x4 SUV the size of a tank LOL!

The new SL - AMG63 is just fooking awesome & I want one!!!

The new CLS Shooting Brake (looks as stupid as its sounds IMO !)

The facelift G Class - again, the AMG63 is bonkers - shame we wont see the even more insane AMG65 bi turbo but at 240,000 Euros they thought that we wouldnt sell too many in the UK!!!

....I also love the new SL; although I'll still be buying the new SLK next year as I think it's better proportioned. I had a look at the SLK 55AMG in my local dealers last Friday whilst mine was in for a service; lovely car but I reckon I'll stick with the 350 AMG sport. £66k is a bit steep for me, even though I'd happily sell a kidney for that V8....:clown:

 

I saw the GLK at the Geneva motor show a couple of years ago and thought it would be an ideal car for Julia. It's just sad that Merc cannot make in in RHD (isn't it something to do with there being no room to fit the steering column on the right?). Still I hear that the next generation GLK will be available in RHD - although it's a couple of years off yet.

The 350 engine is perfect in the SLK IMO but that AMG is just too much fun LOL!

 

The SL has always been a favorite of mine - seriously awesome motor with some serious tech built in!

 

I hate the GLK im afraid! They have kind of just buggered up a decent W204 C Class IMO!! We were told that they may bring out a RHD version in a couple of years but this is still unconfirmed - at this stage I think its unlikely. Other than the ML/GL/R class range we have never had any 4matic vehicles in RHD (apart from the old W124 E class of old) & you are right - it is the way the transmission & steering is configured the costs involved in trying to produce this are considered too great for the RHD markets. Shame really as they seem very popular in the states.

 

Although it looks like we will get a 4WD 340bhp A Class AMG! :punk:

They certainly know how to win over staff with training.. when I was working for Jeep I had a training course in Tuscany for a few days, 5 star hotel deep in the Tuscan hills... so lush :thumbup:

I was in an APC in Germany going down a training slop and I was shure it was going to topple over I was so scared lol

The guy I bought my SL55 from thought about an SL63, but ended up buying another SL55 after test driving the old SL63 because he said it felt under powered. But having just googled the new SL63, it sounds awesome! So they've gone back to a 5.5 engine but added twin turbos, great idea I always said they should! Wouldn't mind a spin in an SL65 but have never even seen one! I assume there are some in this country Paul? Have you ever driven an SLS? They look awesome, love the SLR too, and for anyone that's never seen it Google 'SLR Stirling Moss' :)

Wow! The SL is gorgeous. The A class is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay overdue. Good looking car though.

 

I was dissapointed with the new ML. Looks a bit weird?

The new Merc designs seem to have a massive space above the front wheel if you know what i mean? It makes the front look chunky and not sleek. Compare the new A class with the SLS in Daz's pic, you'll see what i mean. Its weird.

 

That shooting brake is just yuk lol
