Hi,

I have received a couple of lower PAS high pressure hyraulic pipes today for the Z. Yes I only need one, long story, need to return one lol.

Im going to install this on Saturday. However I dont know how!

I searched the forum for a how to guide, but cant find one. I had some general advice from JeffTT which sounded great, but I have amemory like a sieve and need a more definitive guide (in writing)

Obviously I think it would make sense to remove the end nearest the passenger side first, to try drain the PAS fluid out.

Once I have done this, I have no idea how to reach the other end, or release it.

Any advice would be highly appreciated. Do I need to remove anything else?

I will rewrite any guide info given here, with a step by step photo log of the work done, for the FAQ section after too.

Thanks Again

Ryan

if its the one that runs from the PAS pot, to under the car to the lower subframe, its a pain in the arse lol, if its that one let me know, ive done that change on both a N/A and a TT. (N/A was easier lol)

yeah, looks like it could be mate.

it comes from above the alternator, like a loop on one end, and bolt on the other.

Has a 90 Degree bend toward passenger side under alternator, and has a foam shroud around the bend.

Does that sound like it?

TT of course :D

Its the high pressure pipe one that runs from the rear of the pump down to the front steering rack.

To access the fixing for the pump connection remove the two turbo pipes on the left above the pump and also remove the radiator top hose ( when cold) if you look at the top of the pump behind the pulley you will see the banjo bolt that secures the pipe union.

You need to get your spanner in there and release it , it will be very tight but will go eventually, once undone be careful to not loose the copper washers either side of the banjo union.

From below pull the pipe down but wiggle it as well as the steel section at the back will keep getting hooked up but again will comne out eventually. Feed the replacement pipe from below again it will be a sod but eventually will come up over the top of the pump.

So now for the tricky bit, you have to line up the banjo union and get the bolt through but with two copper washers either side of the union, no real hints other than try not to give up, we do these regular in the workshop and they either go easy or thay are a right pain, no way of knowing until you do it.

Once tightened up top and bottom, refit all pipes and top the water up from what was lost taking the top hose off and top up the steering fluid ( Dexron ll) Start the engine and slowly turn the wheel from left to right full lock, topping as required and checking for leaks, NOTE do not be too hasty adding fluid as there is a change air will become trapped and suddenly your dealing with a dexron volcano....very messy.

Good luck

Its not mine to sell mate.

Speak to JeffTT, He sent me two, but I only paid for one. Planning on returning to him, when I go in for cambelt service.

Sorry.

You can have my old on, so you can send it of for rebuild prior to removing yours if you like.
