I don't think it's possible to tell from what year...

 

however I understand that there are differences between the Series and that can give you a round about age...

 

unfortunately you'll have to wait for someone with that knowledge to come along and reply... :)

but wouldn't you need to know the part number? and what part number would you need to know?

 

I know there is a serial number but that be any good?

It certainly doesn't give you the option of the parts page to put in an engine SN number.

 

A guy on the Oz forum asked the same question recently, it was general consensus that it couldn't be done... or at least was very difficult...

 

if someone can work it out, I'd be most impressed and would also let them know how to...

I've not played with the FAST for a while, but I thought that the full details of the car gave the engine number, in which case you can probably work backwards and find out which year/car it's from.

yeah, that would make sense.... but I had a quick look and couldn't work it out...

 

anyway this is what I found from the online parts catalog: (no idea how correct it is or how this helps.... lol)

 

Bare engine part numbers (only European cars listed):

 

Europe right hand drive TT

90 Jan – 94 Jan

1010240PC0, Alt - 1010240PR0

 

Europe left-hand drive TT

 

90 Jan – 93 Dec

1010240PC0, Alt - 1010240PR0

 

94 Jan – 94 Sep

1010240PA0, Alt - 1010240PR0
