Hi all. All I seem to do is ask questions, so sorry in advance.

I have had some serious setups in the past. However I dont want to go spending £3k let alone £1k on an audio system this time round.

Im not up on the latest audio equipment. and would like to get it budgetted at under £400, which I appreciate is low, but I dont want subwoofers etc...

Basically I would like some decent standard fitting speakers for the front and rear, run by a single 4 channel amp which will fit under either the driver or passenger seat, to keep the installation simple and discreet, but much better sounding than OEM fit.

My car never had the Bose upgrade, so has standard speaker slots (I have no idea what size OEM speakers are, or what depth I can fit)

Could any of you advise some decent, punchy speakers, and a slim line 4 channel amp, which will be suitable for my plans? barring in mind I dont want subwoofers as I want to kep it looking simple, and wont be entering any audio competitions.

Thanks again.

Ryan

PS Been looking at these but not sure what it would be like and if they would fit as intended:

Audiobahn AS46J (6x4's for the rear)

Audiobahn AS65J (6.5's for the doors)

Audiobahn AMA12004H Amplifier (W x H x D: 12.09” x 8.48” x 2.64” - Will it fit under one of the seats?)

Hi Ryan

ok the sound your looking for isnt going to happen with those speakers and the amp Combo

Most Head units give around 30w per channel this will be ok for nice sound for most speakers ...

but soon as you bring in Amp's your going to have lots of Power on hand

its very hard to explain but the louder u go the less bass you will get from your speakers as it will reach distortion sooner ...

in a ideal word it would be wise to Run a small Flat/slim line sub ...

this way u can turn your Main speaker Bass down to give a Louder audio and then Infill with Sub to give u that Rich Low end base

this is nothing to do with Competition

i would do for JBL or Infinity Ref for Doors

PS the amps will not fit under the seats

u could build a false board where the ECU sits and mount it there 2" higher then it is now

Hi Mark,

Yes always done that in the past, having bass down on speakers and up on a sub.

I was just thinking on my budget, no way I could get a discreet sub for the car.

The Audio in the car right now is Diabolical. I dont know if its the wiring or the speakers, but its bad on all speakers, so assume its the wiring or Headunit.

What size speakers would I need?

Last setup I had was based on the Alpine PDX 4.150 and 1.1000 amps, But I have no intention of spending that sort of money again :s

Ideally lol. I found a Pioneer Head Unit with USB input (which I require for my flash drive) and and it has 3 pre-outs. and is only £60 delivered. Dont mind going over 400 a bit. But rather spend the money else where if available. :D

Mark seems to know his stuff, but just for reference i`ve just got infinity 9x6 front and rear in the vert running from the head unit 4x 45w and it sounds great, and it needs to be good as when the lids down it needs to drown the road noise down, which it does nicely, all for under £400 :)

Ok Shopping List

http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/products_id/12141.html 6.5" Round Infinitys .. in Doors .. they will fit 49.99

http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/products_id/15426.html 4x6 Rear JVC 25.00

http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/pro...s_id/1538.html Infinity Sub 150.00

http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/products_id/6695.html Infinity 4ch amp 120.00

M8 i know your on a budget but dont get anything with brand Name with Beat/Fli/vibe/ ... its very poor

theres two ways of fitting 6x9s in rear .. u make a nice facia plate for them to sit on ... or u mount them from under the plastic trim ...

sorry posted wrong link for amp, updated to 4 channel one lmao

75rms watts per channel @ 4ohms not bad may give your speakers a bit of a kicking so make sure u have the Hi pass filter on cut some of that bass out :)

lol dont worry, im not one of these guys who cranks the gain right up lol.

However, when im up Derby way to visi my sister, I may get you to have a go at fine tuning settings for me - if you dont mind that is, im a little tone death lol

I would'nt bother with the rear speakers, they are just for extra fill which can even reduce SQ. Instead spend more on your fronts, the fronts are the key to your Sound quality.

Dont bother with 2-way co-axials, get a set of Component front speakers (seperate Mid-way and Tweeter) with crossovers instead, to handle your High's and mid's and Combine it with a 10" subwoofer and Amp for your Bass.

and mount the tweeters, high up in the door, facing you.

OEM look .... so hes not hacking fitting tweeters with in the doors

and with the sound of the car and the bass in the Open boot it would be wise to run some infill speakers in rear

I presumed by OEM he meant no 6x9's sticking out the doors and massive boot builds.

Properly installed tweeters can look very oem. Its always best to spend the most you can on the fronts if your after decent sound.
