Hi

The na is playing up on idle, it can idle at1700rpm and then drop to 700rom and be lumpy.

Have changed the oil, have yet to change the air filter and fuel filters.

Has anyone got any other ideas?

Mark

Hi Topless - have you done the throttle bodies yet?

When JeffTT did mine, changed lumpy tickover to smooooth idle.

Cheers - Gio

My idle was irratic, but not as much as that. Most of it was fixed when I changed the fuel filter. A few days later I changed the airfilter and its been perfect for about 2 months now. Obviously I disconnected the battery too to reset the ECU after changing the filters.

I did my throttle bodies about a year ago. That helped too. I also found that the acceleration pedal movment was smoother too.

Real easy to do it yourself

I've had the same problem. When taking the car out of gear, the tach would drop, bounce a few times, then occasionally keel over. I recently cleaned the hell out of the throttle bodies (including the use of a plastic toothbrush) and the intake manifolds. After advancing the timing to maximum and running the engine with Marve's Mystery Oil for about 500 miles, it now idles around 2000... rarely coming back down.

The stall problem is gone, though.

Oh yeah, changed the PCV valves and added synthetic oil, also. The throttle bodies are most important, though.

Maxx - pull the hose off the idle valve assembly and squirt a dose of carb cleaner in - when you clean the TBs it washes the shit to the back and clogs the valve...

Mark could it be the temp sensor? Mine was very similar when the temp sensor was not working. We may have to have a temp sensor replacement party soon. Your place or mine?

Thanks for the replies guys

The throttle booties are the next port of call.

Brucey me old mate, we shall have to have a idling sort out and a taata for now, to a member of the forum before you head back sort o do!

If that makes sense cos I am completley pissed sort of way!

Mark

idle valve assembly? where's that? (don't mean to sound ign'ant)

Maxx,

Its mounted on the back of the intake plenum on the passenger side. You should be able to see a metal pipe running along the passenger side of the plenum, with a 90 degree rubber hose attached to it at the back. Pull this off the assembly and squirt some carb cleaner in - don't be shy wink.gif
