removed, speed convertor, blown fuse, now no speedo... help

Hi all

yesterday i removed my speed convertor, and shorted out a fuse. I have replace the fuse but now i have no Speedo and powersteering is still heavy.

could i have blown the speed sensor by shorting things behind the dashboard?

cheers

Mick

It's the speed sensor on the gearbox - definately!

how do i find this to replace

is it easy to get at? how much much labour required to replace it.

does anyone know anyone who can replace this for me without having to go to the dealer. as i think my local nissan are about 60+ quid an hour.

how much will a new sensor cost me?

thanks

I don't know the part number but I think it costs about £80 or so from what people have said but you might be able to get a used one on here for a few squids.

Mine failed under warranty so I never found out how much.

It's mounted on the side of the gearbox and just needs jacking up and possibly the exhaust unbolting to get to it.

I wouldn't have thought it was more than half an hours job for any local garage.

is there a test that i can do that will identify for sure that it is the speed sensor?

cheers
